I grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro with a B.A. in Political Science. After graduation, my boyfriend, Scott, whom I married a few years later, fell in love with Charlotte decided to make it our home. I first worked at the Charlotte Chamber and later earned a teaching certificate at Queens College and spent the next five years teaching in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. Throughout this time, we purchased and renovated several homes and in 1997, I decided to turn my passion into a career. I dove headfirst into the world of residential real estate and was honored with the Rookie of the Year Award in my first year and been fortunate enough to be a consistent top producer ever since. In 2021 I took my business to the next level and added other amazing agents to my team. Together, we are able to navigate this challenging busy market for our clients. We understand that buying and selling can be stressful, and work hard to help educate our clients in the process to make sure we are always representing their best interest. Born in a small town in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York, I gradually made my way to Charlotte via Maryland. It didn’t take me long to realize that Charlotte is the perfect place to live. I have now called Charlotte home for over 34 years. I started out as a teacher and reading specialist and worked 10 years as a third and fourth grade teacher at Charlotte Latin School. My second career evolved from my love of decorating. My husband and I always bought homes that had great bones but needed some help. We took down walls, added hardwood floors, crown moldings, changed out light fixtures, painted, etc. We did it all ourselves. We had the “vision” to see the potential of every home. I wanted to share that vision with other people. It was a hard decision to leave teaching, but I decided to try my hand in real estate. Twenty years later, I’ve never looked back, and I’ve been a top producer every year. I approach each transaction with honesty and integrity and the client is my number one focus. I am like a Mama Bear who is protecting her young making sure my clients are always the top priority. I was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, but my family spent many holidays visiting family and friends in North Carolina. While attending Davidson College, I fell in love with the cooler weather and greener grass of Charlotte and ultimately wanted to call the city home. My husband, Ward, and I placed our roots here in 2000. We have lived in Barclay Downs in South Park since then and have loved raising our daughter and son in this wonderful neighborhood. I spent many years helping my students and patients improve their communication skills as a speech-language pathologist. While raising my children, I have been deeply involved in many facets of our community, including being a dedicated Augustine Literacy Project tutor and board member. I have served many years on the Barclay Downs HOA Board. My desire to serve and help others has always been front and center in my personal life. I love continuing this same commitment to service with all of my clients and joined the Becky McGrath Team in 2021. I grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut, my parents were ‘road warriors’ before that was a thing, piling us into the station wagon off on another adventure. We spent a lot of time in the Carolinas and after a short stint in Clearwater, Florida I decided to make Charlotte my home 30 years ago raising my daughter Jessie and enjoying all Charlotte has to offer. Starting off in hospitality as I worked my way through college and for several years after, I transitioned to Bank of America in 2003 to begin my corporate services career of 17 years. Working in large corporate environments taught me time management, communication, contracting and vendor management. It also afforded me the opportunity to have a side career managing investment properties. For years I bought, renovated, lived in, leased and then sold homes. I am thrilled to transition into real estate full time and spend each day doing what I truly love. I was born in Mississippi and moved frequently throughout my childhood as an Air Force BRAT. After graduating high school in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I attended the University of South Carolina. Shortly after, I moved to Charlotte and met my husband, David. We had two beautiful girls and Charlotte has proven to be the best place to raise a family. We live in the Cotswold area in the Robinson Woods neighborhood. Since I was a child, I have been obsessed with houses and I made the decision to earn my real estate license after my daughters started school.
