Presentation For Thetford Ladies FC Thetford Town Ladies had their end of season presentation in June. The ladies had a lot to celebrate in only their third full season (the previous two being disrupted by Covid). The ladies played in the first division of the Norfolk Girls and Ladies League - a league that they initially weren’t expected to be in. The ladies finished fourth and reached the quarter finals of the Harrod Sport Norfolk Cup where they bailed out to the top side - Wymondham Town Ladies. The squad performed superbly throughout the season remaining unbeaten until Christmas. Then a raft of injuries left the squad short of numbers, but still performing to a very high level. With four members of the team aged 17 years or under, they surprised some of the established sides. The presentation evening was hosted by Assistant Manager Stuart Terry and also included a quiz and a raffle to raise funds.
Sprowston was awarded goal of the season. However the biggest cheer on the night was for coach and founder of Thetford Town Ladies David Skipp, who recieved a card of gratitude from the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, for his years of services to grassroots football and ladies football. The ladies also celebrated becoming the firstl adies club in East Anglia to be linked with #HerGameToo - an organisation founded by women whose ethos is to eradicate sexism within football. The team are also linked to the Daisy Foundation - a Breckland charity that provides support to people that have experienced domestic abuse.
17 year old Abi Corbyn walked off with four awards which included winning Young Player of The Year, A special thanks also goes to the team sponsors a remarkable achievement from a young lady Beez Leisure, Silver Fern Ceremonies and who is fast developing into an extremely good Chilterns Estate Agents.
