The Annual Open Day has been running since 2004 and allows veterans, families and anyone who wishes to commemorate the only time in its history, that the 7th Armoured Division (The Desert Rats) was in the UK. Having been formed in the deserts of Egypt, where it fought its first battles, it travelled to Italy before returning to the UK to prepare for the Normandy Invasion in June 1944, here in Norfolk. After sailing at the start of June 1944, the Division has never returned to these shores. This annual memorial day allows people to remember the sacrifices of past generations who wore the Desert Rat on their arm, in WW2 and conflicts since and continue to do so in the modern era. Anyone attending will be able to see vintage military vehicles, plus visit trade stands and the museum. You can also observe the service of remembrance and see the marching band.
