our goal

Victoria Joel (Count Basie Theatre Usher and Education Intern) and Samantha Giustiniani (Outreach Administrator and Instructor) work with a student in an acting class.

he arts have the ability to create change and impact lives. They are life enhancing, enriching and T altering. Our understanding of the importance of exposure to the arts continues to be the driving

motivation behind each facet of our art and education programs. • Through our partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts we are empowering an ever-growing population of primary and middle school teachers with professional development tools to integrate the arts into their core curriculum. Arts integration fuels creative thinking, and research shows that students are more fully engaged in learning when the arts are used as teaching tools. • In our outreach program into the Monmouth County High Schools, our annual Basie Awards, now in it’s ninth season, continues to honor excellence in High School Theatre while fostering an appreciation and love for the arts. • Our extensive in- and after-school acting, music and choral classes continue to bring arts experiences to students in the Red Bank Borough School District and will be expanding to include students in the J.R. Bolger Middle School in Keansburg. • A bus-in program to bring area students into the theatre to experience live performances and the magic of the theatre, will be expanded in the 2013/14 school year as we reach out to create more collaborations and connections with surrounding schools. • Our professional faculty of teaching artists continue to offer programs that challenge, inspire and provide our students of all ages with quality training. Our educational mission as an arts organization is to instill the concepts of creative thinking and effective reasoning, and to inspire out of the box thinking and appreciation of the process as well as the product, while fostering an understanding and appreciation for cultural enrichment for people at all economic levels.
