STUDENT PRODUCTIONS The Basie Academy’s Student Production series offers young performers a chance to be part of professionally-mounted productions on Basie Center stages. These experiences take students from rehearsals to showtime as they hone their acting skills and prepare for a public performance.

Monmouth Conservatory of Music Private Lessons

The class will enable students to hone their skills in the language of jazz. The beginning course will introduce concepts of jazz melody and harmony and the introductory basics of jazz improvisation. The more advanced class will dive deep into Jazz performance training. Topics covered will include ii-V-I vocabulary, common scale patterns, advanced scales, and Jazz History. Students will leave with an understanding of what (and how) to practice to become a fluent improviser.

TV Tots™ Introduction to the Business is an interactive on-camera acting class designed for parents and their young children. Children discover what it’s like to appear on camera, and parents learn how to navigate the world of show business for their children. Discussion topics include preparing for auditions as well as locating and building relationships with agents, casting directors and other industry professionals $175 parents and one child; $50 per additional sibling

One of the Basie Academy’s proudest partnerships, the year-round Actors Playground program fosters a strong foundation of respect and encouragement and offers a challenging, diverse, conservatory-level curriculum. Taught by a staff of dedicated and extensively trained teachers, students study the latest version of modern acting techniques, including ‘Second City’-style improvisation, advanced scene study, auditioning and more. Actors Playground also offers opportunities to train with well-known actors and audition for top level theatrical representation.
