When the water freezes, the bubbles are suspended in the ice. 27 The Wave - Arizona, USA A red sandstone formation along the Utah/Arizona border. 33 Salar de Uyuni - Bolivia With around 11 billion tonnes of salt, Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat. It was formed when Lago Minchin ­– a prehistoric lake once covering the majority of southwest Bolivia – dried up. In the wet season when the salt is covered with a thin layer of water, it reflects the sky back at itself like a cosmic mirror. There is also a flamingo population here. 5 Las Cuevas de Mármol - Chile On the border of Chile and Argentina lies the incredibly beautiful complex of Marble caves. Marble walls of the caves are painted in all colors of the rainbow and under the influence of sunlight can change their tone during a day. 15 Giant’s Causeway - Northern Ireland The Giant’s Causeway lies at the foot of the basalt cliffs along the sea coast on the edge of the Antrim plateau in Northern Ireland. It is made up of some 40,000 massive black basalt columns sticking out of the sea. The dramatic sight has inspired legends of giants striding over the sea to Scotland.

21 Caño Cristales - Meta, Columbia Referred as, “the river that ran awayKawah from paradise.” Ijen During the short span between the wet and dry seasons, when the water level is just right, a unique species of plant that lines the river floor called Underwater Wa- Macarenia clavigera turns a brilliant red. It is offset by splotches of yellow and green sand, blue terfall and 7 color water, and a thousand shades in between.

13 Pammukale - Denizli, Turkey Deriving from springs in a cliff almost 200 m high overlooking the plain, calcite-laden waters have created at Pamukkale (Cotton Palace) an unreal landscape, made up of mineral forests, petrified waterfalls and a series of terraced basins.

29 Underwater Waterfall - Mauritius This spectacular sight is actually one of nature’s optical illusions. The flowing waterfall-like appearance that can only be seen from above, is not actually the water itself falling. It is, in fact, sand from the Mauritius beaches being forced off the shelf by currents in the ocean.
