DO OR DON’T? Make your wedding planning as stress-free as can be!

1

DO HAVE WEDDING FREE DATE NIGHTS

Just because you’re getting married, doesn’t mean that it has to take over your life. While wedding planning may take up many of your weekends, make sure to schedule wedding free date nights.

2

DO MAKE A

4

DO ASK THE EXPERTS FOR ADVICE

Your wedding suppliers are some of the most knowledgeable people you’ll meet when it comes to planning a wedding. Don’t be afraid to ask for tips and advice or recommendations for other local wedding suppliers. They can help make even the trickiest decisions a lot easier.

5

DO USE POST-IT NOTES TO PLAN GUEST SEATING

Managing your guests can be one of the trickiest parts of the planning process – especially the table plan. Ensure the process is stress free by using post-it notes to plan the seating arrangements.

SCHEDULE

When you’re ready to begin planning your big day, sit down together and devise a planning schedule. Work out what tasks need to be completed and when - spacing out activities across a number of months and weekends. Trying to do everything at once or leaving everything to the last minute is bound to cause unnecessary stress.

DO IT!

3

DO SET A BUDGET AND TRACK YOUR SPENDING

Before committing to anything, make sure you set a budget. Wedding budgets can get out of hand, so it’s a good idea to know how much you can realistically spend and how you plan to spend it. Don’t forget to keep on top of it all with a simple spreadsheet.

6

DO HAVE AN INDOOR WEATHER OPTION

Worrying about the weather on your wedding day is a waste of time and energy. No matter what it brings, you’re bound to have an amazing day. Do, however, make sure you prepare for rainy weather to avoid last-minute stress and disappointment.

7

DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR GROOM

It’s a common misconception that it’s your responsibility to plan the wedding – but don’t forget to encourage and support your groom’s involvement too. Talk to him, listen to his ideas and give him responsibility of the key elements of the wedding that cater to his interests.

8

10

DON’T STICK WITH TRADITION OR TRENDS

Not one for dancing or partying? Hate the thought of wearing a long, white, traditional gown? Whatever your likes and dislikes, don’t be afraid to plan your wedding in your own way. Ditch the first dance, opt for a short, sassy gown, and ask both parents to walk you down the aisle. These days, anything goes.

11

DON’T STRESS ABOUT THE

LITTLE THINGS As a bride, it’s important to recognise the importance of balance in order to prevent stressing about every last detail. Chances are, on the day itself, some things won’t go as planned – but you’ll be the only one to notice. Instead of analysing everything, take a step back, relax and soak up each moment.

DON’T TRY AND DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF

As a bride, you’re not expected to be superwoman. While it’s nice to see your hard work come together and to keep elements of your wedding under wraps, it is worth asking friends and family for help. A stressed out, pressured bride is not a happy one.

DON’T DO IT!

9

12

DON’T FORGET TO SAY THANK YOU

A wedding thank you card or gift goes a long way and shows your acknowledgement and appreciation of your guests and family. Make sure you write something personal to each guest to show thanks for their gift and attendance.

DON’T DIY YOUR WEDDING JUST TO SAVE MONEY

If you’re going to go DIY crazy, you’ve got to have a passion for it. DIY weddings take a lot of time to plan and can be costly if you have to repeat projects that haven’t gone to plan. Of course, DIY-ing some elements of your wedding can be rewarding but don’t set the bar too high.

BLACK TIE AFFAIR A chic outdoor ceremony and black tie reception ensured Fi and Nick’s stylish Sedgeford Hall wedding was unforgettable

F

ollowing four years of dating, Nick decided to pop the question while away on holiday with Fi in Hong Kong. Even though the pair began discussing wedding ideas immediately, they decided to take their time to plan the perfect day – booking their venue for two summers later. Three-day celebration When it came to their wedding venue, the pair had a few requirements. They wanted a beautiful house and gardens to enjoy all weekend and a setting for an unforgettable celebration. “Sedgeford Hall fitted the bill perfectly,” says Fi. “We could have an outdoor ceremony in the Rose Garden and a reception in the

marquee. Plus, it was ultra glamorous too - perfect for our black tie wedding,” she adds. “Booking all of the big elements early on, like the venue and caterers, meant we felt prepared and not rushed for time.” It takes two The black tie wedding was a vision shared by both Nick and Fi. They planned much of the wedding themselves and even got to grips with some DIY. “We loved making the table decorations together,” smiles Fi. “It involved spraying hundreds of animals gold and tying everyone’s names to each one with little black ties,” she explains. 2017 WEDDING TRENDS

Naturally beautiful

The night before

Beautiful blooms were a big part of the couple’s glam black tie wedding. To ensure maximum impact, they opted for dramatic style. Long runners of foliage were placed along the centre of each table with peach flowers intertwined through the length. Foliage chandeliers suspended from the roof of the marquee too. “It looked so romantic – very Midsummer Night’s Dream,” says Fi.

Fi and Nick’s wedding extravaganza began on the Friday night. Close family and friends arrived in the afternoon and enjoyed dinner together that evening. “It was a lovely way to relax and spend time with relatives ahead of the big day,” says Fi. Breaking tradition, the pair decided to stay together the night before the wedding before parting early the next morning.

Designer style

Sun-soaked celebrations

Fi dressed to impress in a stunning designer wedding dress customised to her requirements. Created by upcoming Bulgarian designer, Margo Stankova, the fairy-tale dress featured pearl embellishment, warm peach tones and layers of tulle. “I had initially envisaged wearing a slim fit gown but was completely won over,” smiles Fi. “Margo even customised the dress to ensure it was perfect for me.”

The couple’s wedding ceremony wasn't scheduled until 3pm, allowing family, friends and both parties to relax and enjoy the day. As planned, the couple tied the knot outside in the Rose Garden before tucking into a canapé and drinks reception. “Seeing Nick for the first time felt so special and he was also extremely emotional. The ceremony felt very intimate and we loved being able to say our vows in the sun,” smiles Fi.

“We could have an outdoor ceremony in the Rose Garden and a reception in the marquee. Plus, it was ultra glamorous - perfect for our black tie wedding.”

Taste sensation After the drinks reception and speeches, dinner was served. Fi and Nick worked closely with the Sedgeford Hall team to create a perfect menu. Guests enjoyed a prawn cocktail salad to start followed by a lamb main. For dessert, the couple opted for an exciting pineapple tarte tatin with chilli caramel. “All the courses were divine – especially the lamb which was so tasty!” says Fi. As big cheese lovers, a savoury cheese cake was a must over a traditional wedding cake. The pair worked closely with a local cheesemonger to pick the perfect cheeses – the final selection a hit with all their guests. “We didn’t anticipate our guests devouring the cheese

before we even had the chance to try some ourselves!” laughs Fi. Love to dance A live band set up to perform throughout the night and played the couple’s first dance song, Happy Together. “Nick lifted me up and spun me around during the first dance which was really fun!” smiles Fi. The infectious music and the fun party vibe saw guests joining the couple on the dance floor mid-way through the first dance – and remaining there most of the night! “The entire day was just incredible,” smiles Fi. “Have a moment to take it all in. It’s a really lovely thing to do.”

CLOCK BARN

Barns are probably the most popular type of wedding venue right now, and they're the perfect setting for those delightfully rustic celebrations. Ranging from the traditional and quintessentially English to contemporary and chic, there's a wide range of barns to choose from. CHIDDINGSTONE CASTLE

Country House Country houses and manor houses make up some of the most popular wedding venues in the UK and normally mean a grand setting with a history and a surrounding of impressive grounds or parkland. Yellow might not be the colour that first comes to mind when planning a wedding, but it is a fabulous choice for spring. Combine it with a more neutral shade and use the yellow in flowers, decorations and other details to add pops of colour. 2017 WEDDING TRENDS

COLOURS

If you love pastels but you’d like to be a little more bold, simply turn up the brightness. Magenta, sunflower yellow and turquoise blue are three key candy shades and they lend themselves to the spirit of fun. This is a colour scheme created for a party!

Pink

Pink remains a popular wedding colour in all hues, from the most delicate baby pink to a hot magenta or deep cerise. While the depths all work well together, it’s wise to choose your favourite shade and stick to it.

Bl a c k & WHITE

We love a black and white wedding – so stylish, so unique and so effortlessly elegant. The monochrome scheme works well in both traditional and contemporary settings.

Amazing in Autumn Natural shades and seasonal hues are the perfect way to celebrate this time of year

Hues of the

Traditional autumn shades of gold, rust, orange and peach work wonderfully at this time of year. Incorporate berries and leaves in to your arrangements, use pumpkins in your decorations and line pathways with lanterns.

THINGS

the Bride mustn’t forget We get it; there's so much for you to remember on your big day, but these are 10 things that might slip your mind with everything else that's going on. Remember these and they just might make your day a whole lot better!

1. To get a good night's sleep

2. To eat

3. To give yourself time

Nothing is more important than plenty of sleep the night before your wedding!

You've got hours before your ceremony so make sure you and your girls have got some breakfast and snacks on hand.

If you and your bridal party are all having your hair and makeup done, make sure you've allocated plenty of time in the morning to get it all done!

4. Those finishing touches to your look Reapply your lipstick, double check your hair and give yourself one last once-over in the mirror before show time!

5. To wine and dine

6. To have fun!

7. To dry those eyes

People will want to congratulate you all through the wedding breakfast but make sure you have time to enjoy the food and drink!

Remember, you're here to celebrate! Don't get hung up on the little details and make the day memorable for the right reasons.

Most brides don't make it through the day without tears at some point! Make sure you're armed with tissues or a handkerchief just in case.

8. Your touch up bag

9. Those secret comfy shoes

10. To send those thank yous

A little bag of makeup and essentials is a great way to stay looking fab on your special day.

Pop these under the table during your wedding breakfast and give yourself an hour or two out of those heels. Your feet will thank you!

Get those thank you cards in the post as soon as the honeymoon is over to show how much you appreciate everybody sharing your big day.

THINGS

the Groom mustn’t forget Because perfect grooms don’t forget the rings!

1. Breakfast

2. Your accessories

3. How long everything takes

We've all had the importance of breakfast drilled into us from an early age but this time it really is a must. You might not feel like eating anything if you're a bit nervous but you most likely won't get the chance to eat again for hours afterwards. Also, Champagne on an empty stomach is never a good idea!

You might not be used to having so many accessories as part of your outfit and these little additions to your wardrobe have to be up there as the most forgotten items on your wedding day. Cufflinks, tie pins, pocket squares, and watches, write a list and don't let them out of your sight!

You want to look your best on your big day but don't underestimate how long all that pre-wedding grooming can take. Ironing your shirt, polishing your shoes and perfecting your hair all take time so make sure you set that alarm early and get them all done with plenty of time to spare!

4. Say NO to the drink!

5. A special treat

6. To thank people

7. The occasion

Or should we say, not too many before the ceremony has begun. We know that you might need a little tipple to settle your nerves but your partner really won't appreciate you slurring your way through your vows.

Your wedding is a celebration of your love for each other and a thoughtful gift for your partner on your wedding day will show them that you are thinking of them.

Chances are a lot of people helped you and your partner in making your dream wedding a reality. Take the opportunity to show your gratitude to them during your speech, your helpful friends and family will definitely appreciate the recognition.

As one of the biggest days of your life, you don't want to look back on it with any regrets. It's supposed to be a day of fun and celebration so make sure your actions suit the mood. Remember, it's your wedding day, not a Saturday night on the town!

8. The rings of course!

9. The order of the day

10. Shave and do it well

Most of the time this will be the best man's responsibility but that doesn't mean it's not still yours too. It's definitely acceptable to make him check his pockets every five minutes to reassure you he has still got them; they're kind of important y'know.

Your wedding is something you've decided on together and possibly the most important day in your lives. Show that you have paid attention and know what's going on by having a good idea of the plan for the day. Trust us; it will make everything run a lot smoother.

A good shave or trim is a must on your wedding day; you don't want to turn up with day-old stubble or a caveman beard now do you? If you're not the most talented with a razor, then think about getting some hired help. A professional barber will make sure you're looking your best.

BARN WEDDING Martine and Andrew’s Upwaltham Barns wedding featured a pretty pastel colour scheme and chic rustic details

W

hen Martine and Andrew imagined their wedding day, they dreamed of a relaxed, informal occasion and a night of partying with all their friends. They couldn’t wait to get everyone together to celebrate their special day, which they’d set for a Saturday in May. Venue vibes Finding the right venue was the couple’s top priority. They wanted a setting that was welcoming, beautiful and complementary to their rustic wedding theme. Upwaltham Barns was one of the venues the pair visited after falling in love with the venue when coming across it online. “It was perfect for what we

wanted,” smiles Martine. “We felt so relaxed there and that’s exactly how we wanted our guests to feel.” Chic and unique The barn’s interior was the perfect complement to the couple’s wedding theme. This meant Martine and Andrew didn’t have to do much in terms of decorating. “The venue itself is so stunning – so we felt that less was definitely more,” explains Martine. The pair added their own personal touch to the barns with pastel mint and pink bunting, perfect for their spring celebration. For their wedding breakfast tables, Martine designed her own arrangements, styling jam jars with ribbon, lace and pearl embellishments. 2017 WEDDING TRENDS

The blushing bride When it came to her wedding dress, Martine was keen to pick something classically beautiful – in keeping with the elegance and romance of her day. Her chic blush pink Naomi Neoh gown, which featured a pretty chiffon overlay, complemented the setting beautifully. Andrew dressed in charcoal, teaming his Hugo Boss suit with a mint green tie Memorable moments On the day of the wedding, Martine arrived at the venue with her four bridesmaids in a vintage VW Campervan. While pretty, the vintage vehicle did have a few technical difficulties – meaning the bridal party only just made it to the venue. “Luckily we did arrive on time and the ceremony was one of the day’s highlights,” says Martine. “My son, Ben, walked me down the aisle; it was a real stand out moment of the day.”

Let’s go outside Once the formalities were over, the couple and their guests went on to celebrate with a drinks reception outdoors. “Upwaltham Barns looked beautiful,” smiles Martine. “The courtyard was in full bloom and was surrounded by the natural beauty of the South Downs.” Taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather, the couple decided to have a sociable barbecue. Menu favourites included chilli chicken skewers, burgers, plus a dessert of chocolate brownies with ice cream. Party barn The delicious wedding breakfast was just the start of the couple’s celebrations. Later on, wedding guests were treated to an unforgettable evening do with a live band playing all the best party tunes. “A wedding band was one of our must-haves. They kicked off the party with our first dance song to Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together,” explains Martine. “It was amazing. In fact, the whole day was perfect from start to finish.”

It's different in every scenario. If they're married or are in a long-term relationship, then yes. With newer relationships then I'm afraid there is no hard and fast rule, it's entirely up to you!

SAVE THE DATE CARDS

THANK YOU CARDS

"At Papier, we believe that stationery is an essential part of organising a wedding for any couple and a sophisticated save the date card makes sure your friends and family keep your desired day free! We suggest sending these about six months before the date."

“Chic thank you cards allow for you to give back to your guests, letting them know you appreciate their generosity and their company on your special day.”

Be my bridesmaid cards (optional) Be my best man/usher cards (optional) INVITATIONS “The invitation itself is the most vital piece of stationery! Make sure it is an eye-catching yet elegant piece of memorabilia for your guests. Wedding invitations are often kept for months, making guests get excited for the special day. They are also necessary for that important information such as the location, wedding list and suggestions of where to stay, in a concise and chic way.” Invitation envelope Insert for extra info (optional) RSVP card (optional) Pre-addressed RSVP envelope (optional)

PLACE NAME CARDS

Wedding Announcements (optional) Change of address (optional)

"Place name cards make for a beautiful and efficient way to avoid confusion and let guests know exactly where they are meant to be! They are also nice little mementoes for your guests to take home, especially when they look really pretty!

don’T Book AnythinG ...until you’ve asked these questions!

These 12 questions will help you make sure your venue can be everything you want it to be.

2. Is your date available? For some the date is just as important as the venue so check at the very earliest opportunity that your desired date is available. Weekends in the summer get booked years in advance so start planning early if you’re dreaming of a summer wedding.

1. Can you afford it? It might look amazing, but if the venue takes up all of your budget and more, then it might not be the right one for you. You decided on a budget for a reason, so do your best to keep to it!

3. How many people can you invite? Make sure you have some idea of how many guests you would invite to your wedding so that you can guarantee your chosen venue would be capable of catering for all your guests.

5. Do they have preferred suppliers? A lot of venues will have preferred suppliers of wedding day staples like flowers, decorations and chair covers. They will often have a special rate with these so the costs for using others might end up being slightly higher.

6. Are there any photographer restrictions? Sometimes venue owners live on site, so it's worth finding out if some parts of the venue may be off-limits to you and your photographer, no matter how perfect the photo opportunity might be!

4. Are there any hidden costs? From VAT to furniture hire and everything in between, it's easy to get hit with a hidden cost when booking your wedding date, that is unless you ask all the questions first!

8. What if it rains?

7. When can I get in the venue?

You may have fallen in love with the venue's outdoor wedding possibilities, but if your day is a bit of a wash out, make sure that the place offers an alternative that protects you from the elements.

Some venues will give you all morning to decorate and get yourself ready and others might only be available for a few hours before your wedding. If you're planning on a big decorative overhaul, it might be worth checking how long you have to do it first!

9. Can I bring my own alcohol? Most venues will probably say yes, at least for the table drinks and toast, but sometimes this will be at a cost. The price of corkage changes from place to place so check in advance and factor it into your budget so you don’t get stung!

11. Is the venue exclusively mine?

10. When do you and your guests have to leave? At a busy wedding venue, the staff often have a wedding the day after yours which they need to prep for. If that’s the case, you can expect a rather strict checkout time and it's best to find out advance so it doesn't come as a shock.

Most quality venues offer exclusive use but it's always best to make sure that is the case if it is an important issue. At more historic venues, you might find that some parts of the building or grounds can be open to the public, which is something to think about before you make your booking.

12. How creative can you get with decorations? You might have some incredible decorations planned for your venue but it's best to check if there are any restrictions in place before you get too carried away. Things like naked flames, Blu-Tack and pins can often be banned in places.

The 9 Benefits of Using a

Gift

LIST SERVICE We speak to Prezola, the expert wedding gift list company, to find out why using a gift list service is better for everybody!

Vintage Lights Arrow, £299.99 Urban Industrialists

1

IT’S EASY AND PERSONALISED

“Weddings have been very traditional for years, but lately couples have been breaking the mould and making their own rules with their nuptials. Though gift lists may seem traditional, they’ve changed dramatically in recent years to be anything you want it to be! Ever wanted a Sonos sound system, Crosley record player, or even a fire pit? Well now you can! Of course, you can also add your

newlywed dinnerware set and new bedding and towels, but gift lists now cater to pretty much anyone.” “Gone are the days of entering a high street department store with a barcode scanner like in the movies, and you no longer need to scan items you feel you should, just because you’re getting married. With Prezola, there aren’t any rules when it comes to wedding gift lists, and we encourage couples to reflect who they are with the lists too.”

YOU CAN GET WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT

“If you’re already living together before getting married, we totally get it. Who wants a new toaster and tableware set when you’ve already got it at home? Wedding gift lists are a great way to update any old or outdated furnishings from your student days and really go for the

things on your wish list that you’ve always wanted. KitchenAid, Dyson and Sonos are all popular items on our website because they’re often the products that couples want but can’t always afford. If there’s really nothing you want for the home, why not create a Honeymoon Fund to help pay for your romantic getaway?”

SIMPLE FOR YOUR GUESTS TO USE

“Take away the hassle of trawling the high street or internet to find a certain present and make it quick and easy for your guests. All they have to do is enter your unique code online, pick a present and then check out; simple! They can even choose to add a personalised message and gift wrap as well, so they don’t have to worry about making it look pretty for you themselves.”

er, £15 Cocktail Shak Bar Craft

4 Steel Carousel, £95 Joseph Joseph

YOU CAN PICK ITEMS FOR ANY BUDGET

“Each guest may have their own budget when it comes to wedding gifts, and with over 30,000 items to choose from on Prezola, it’s easy to add wedding gifts and cash contribution values both high and low. For example, your parents will most likely want to spend a lot more than your friends from school so add a high-priced item (like

those Mauviel copper saucepans you had your eye on!) and your friends can go for something smaller like wall art or dinnerware items. Don’t be shy to add those high-ticket items though as it’s really common for groups of friends or colleagues to group together and buy one big item you’ll really want.”

5

KEEP TRACK OF WHO BOUGHT WHAT

“For the less organised couples among you, when it comes to thank you notes you won’t have to worry about a thing! We send you a list of all the presents in your delivery along with the names of people who sent them so there’s no more matching up handwriting or second-guessing.” A big thank you to Prezola for their expert advice! WEST TOWER

Vintage

INSPIRED WEDDING Gemma and Andy wowed their guests with their stunning West Tower venue and an unforgettable wedding menu

O

n her search to find the perfect wedding venue, Gemma sought the help of her mum. Together, they attended a number of wedding venue open days – West Tower getting both Gemma and her mother’s approval. Stamp of approval Having fallen in love with West Tower, Gemma arranged for a private showaround with husband-to-be Andy. “Upon visiting, he loved it as much as me – so we booked it right away” smiles Gemma. The pair loved just about everything about the venue, from its interior to its gorgeous grounds. “I just hoped the weather would be lovely so that we could make the most of the beautiful outside area,” says Gemma.

A touch of vintage To complement West Tower’s chic elegance, the couple decided on a vintage theme. They placed birdcages at the centre of guest tables and added candles to the venue for romantic ambience. Sun-soaked celebrations The two tied the knot at West Tower on the 2nd June. Gemma’s wish for a hot sunny day was granted with fantastic weather all day long. “We made sure to make the most of the fantastic grounds.” A drinks reception was held outdoors and plenty of photographs were taken in West Tower’s gardens as guests basked in the British sunshine. 2017 WEDDING TRENDS

Food glorious food

Best day ever

The wedding breakfast followed and featured three delicious courses, chosen by the couple. A leek and potato soup was served to start and complemented by a chicken and mash main. For dessert, guests indulged in sticky toffee pudding served with ice cream and peanut brittle.

The laid-back celebrations continued into the night with a sociable barbeque feast and live music. “The barbeque was just as delicious as the wedding breakfast – everyone was raving about it,” says Gemma.

“All the food was absolutely gorgeous,” smiles Gemma. “I could not fault one thing about it – plus everyone else really enjoyed it too.”

Simon Dee, the couple’s wedding singer, provided the musical entertainment for the night – singing the couple’s first dance song to A Million Love Songs by Take That. “It was amazing,” smiles Gemma.

“We had the best day at West Tower. It’s such a beautiful venue and the team were fantastic. We can’t thank them enough for making our day so special.”

SHOE

There are many things that a bride must pay attention to before her big day, but her choice of wedding shoe can truly make or break the day. If you pick a pair of wedding heels that are uncomfortable, unflattering or downright painful, you’ll be very sorry you did. In this article we’ve compiled 10 common wedding shoe shopping mistakes that brides can fall into the trap of making. If you shop for your shoes pre-armed with this guide, it will be far easier to avoid any prospective problems. Get ready to walk down the aisle with the most wonderful and most comfortable pair of shoes ever! 2017 WEDDING TRENDS

we love these

1

CHOOSING HEELS THAT ARE TOO HIGH FOR YOU

Many brides choose wedding shoes where the heels are far higher than anything they are used to. Since your wedding day will be spent largely on your feet (realistically he will carry you no further than the car!) it is a wise idea to go for heels that you are going to be able to cope with comfortably. Besides, if you take the easy option and take a pair of flats for the dance-floor, you could run into some serious problems - remember that your wedding dress has been altered to match the exact length of your satin heels and you could end up sweeping the venue floor with your prize dress…

3

OPTING FOR THE WRONG FIT

Don’t expect that the slightly tight pair of wedding shoes you’ve bought will fit you perfectly on your wedding day or that the slightly wide pair you’ve bought will not fall off your foot as you climb down the church steps in front of a crowd of family and friends. Take your time try on different wedding shoes and opt for a pair of heels that feels absolutely comfortable. Many shoe designers even suggest having a pedicure done before going wedding shoe shopping so that your feet are pampered and smooth before you start trying different shoes.

“Buy your shoes after your dress”

2

NOT KNOWING WHAT YOU WANT

Avoid shopping for wedding shoes if you don’t have the slightest idea of what you’re looking for. Take your time to review shoe designer sites, bridal magazines and even go window shopping to get a grasp of the different styles of wedding shoes available. Will lacy shoes be flattering? Peep-toes? Classic white, or a bold colour? Classic or modern? The questions carry on… Answering these questions will most certainly help you to buy the best suited pair of wedding shoes for your personal style and comfort needs.

This stunning peep toe platform Indulgence occasion shoe featuring gorgeous embroidery across the heel will surely make a statement if you choose these as your heels for that special event.

4

SHOES THAT ARE NOT YOUR STYLE

Perhaps you’ve fallen in love with that pair of adorned stilettos or an outlandish embellished heel that you saw in a magazine and you just had to have. Or maybe you simply stumbled upon a bargain pair of modern Victorian wedding shoes and felt it was the sensible option to take. However, you don’t want to be sitting in the car on the way to the church remembering that you hate stilettos, lacy shoes are too vintage for you and modern Victorian shoes are definitely not your style. Try to stick to your fashion principles and you will have no regrets! Wedding shoes are special and they should reflect you and your wedding style. Choosing them carefully is definitely a wise decision, and should not be taken lightly!

5

THEY ARE NOT THE RIGHT SHOES FOR YOUR DRESS

Check twice that the length of your dress allows you to wear this or that pair of shoes unless you want your dress to drag on the floor. It is definitely worth buying your shoes after you purchase a dress and maybe even taking it with you to try on the shoes. This may seem a bit drastic, but it will give some weight to your final decision and won’t leave you in a panic on the big day.

6

BUYING CHEAPER SHOES

We all generally expect to pay a bit more for well-designed, wellmade shoes, and there is simply no getting away from the fact that a more expensive shoe will result in a more comfortable wedding day. It is also true that brides usually have to spend quite a lot of money on their wedding dress and their bridesmaids’ dresses and that this can sometimes leave a minimal budget for the wedding shoes. However, please avoid buying cheaper shoes. They will be much less comfortable, they will hurt your feet and they will definitely ruin your special day!

7

AVOID WEARING SOMETHING YOU CAN’T WEAR AGAIN

Leading on from what we’ve just mentioned, as buying your wedding shoes is quite an investment, you need to do your best to buy a pair of wedding heels that can be worn again and made the most of. White shoes can be a good purchase as after the wedding you can have them professionally dyed to make them more wearable.

8

BUYING HEELS IN THE MORNING

A top tip when shopping for wedding shoes is to do it towards the end of the day when possible. Your feet will naturally swell towards the end of the day, giving you a truer fit for the shoe. Remember that you’ll wear your shoes for an entire day so having a pair of shoes that are ultracomfy and that can accommodate a slightly swollen end-of-day foot is a must!

we love these Elegant and sophisticated sling back Treasure pointed court shoe, beautiful vintage inspired trim on vamp.

9

BE OPEN MINDED

Let the shoe designer show you different alternatives to the wedding shoes you want. Be open to suggested options, as you may end up finding a pair of wedding shoes that are even more beautiful, more stunning, sexier and more comfortable than you could ever imagine!

10

BUYING THEM LAST MINUTE

It doesn’t matter how busy you are in the run up to your wedding, you need to make time to make a careful and considered decision regarding shoes. God forbid you end up buying your wedding shoes the day before your wedding or, worse, a couple of hours before! Purchase them well in advance so that you can practice walking in them and break them in to avoid blisters at the alter!

“you may end up finding shoes that are even more beautiful, more stunning, sexier and more comfortable that you could ever imagine!”
