New Exhibition Opening at White Bird Gallery
White Bird Gallery Featured Artists
Spring Unveiling Art Festival Weekend
Alexandra Boyden
New pastels based on a road trip across country seeking beautiful barns, which the artist sees as symbols of home. Alex continually experiments with color, form, gesture and an intuitive approach to creating imagery. A love of travel and hiking inspire her imaginative style. Alex uses landscapes, both real and imagined, as frameworks for an ongoing exploration toward abstraction.
Christopher Mathie
Mathie’s new collection of expressive seascape paintings focuses on immediacy and intentional mark making. As he states, “There’s an idea of transformation happening, the paint hits the canvas and the mark left implies splashing water. It happens quickly and with little thought. It’s like the rushing water is pounding the rocks, the sea spray is hitting your face, the sea sounds fill your ears.”
New Artist Thomas Haddy
Introducing a new medium to our gallery offerings, stone turned vessels by Tom Haddy. Based in Northern California, in the foothills of the Sierras, he works in a variety of stones, including alabaster, talc, soapstone, and brucite to create unique turnings. Inspired by ancient Egyptian, Greek and Chinese vessels, Tom’s pieces are made of both a single stone and of multiple stones fused and then turned. His experience in sculpture and murals led him to turning stone vessels in 2013.
Joshua Rodine
Presenting a new collection of glass vessels and sculptures by long-time gallery artist, Josh Rodine. Inspired by the natural processes of growth and decay prevalent in the Pacific Northwest, he uses molten color glass rods to spin glass threads around his blown forms. Josh enjoys finishing his pieces with cold-working techniques like sandblasting and battuto, giving his artworks a smooth surface and elegant carved textures.

Jeffrey Hull Introduces New Work
The Jeffrey Hull Gallery will highlight Jeff’s new work and host receptions during the Spring Unveiling Arts Festival, May 2-4. Jeff started painting in his teens but focused on watercolors over 50 years ago. His command of painting and love for the Pacific Northwest Coast invite the viewer into scenes of frothy waves, sandy beaches, wind-sculpted trees and dramatic cliffs draped in coastal mist.
For 38 years, Jeff and his wife Carol have been offering his paintings to collectors in their spacious second-floor gallery at Sandpiper Square in the heart of downtown Cannon Beach. Looking back fondly, he remembers ‘we were just kids’, when he speaks of opening the tiny 350-square foot space back in 1987. Over time, both the gallery and Jeff’s works have grown in size; he’s added oils into his repertoire; and he also now proudly produces his own high-quality reproductions. If you haven’t been to the gallery (or haven’t been lately), stop by over the festival weekend to enjoy the Hulls’ warm hospitality and see new originals and prints by this wonderful artist.
