The 2013 Badlands Judging Contest was hosted on February 23rd at the Bowman County Fairgrounds by the Bowman and Scranton FFA Chapters and the NDSU Bowman County Extension Service. We want to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the Badlands Judging Contest. There were 107 Livestock Judging Contestants, 32 Ag Sales Contestants, 50 Crops Judgers and 40 volunteers helping with the day. We appreciate each and every one of you that helped out in any way. This day could not have been possible without so many great volunteers.

The Bowman County Economic Development Corporation, serving Bowman County and the cities of Bowman, Rhame, Scranton and Gascoyne, is seeking a full time Executive Director responsible for promoting and maintaining the economic vitality of Bowman County and its communities. The Director should be a highly motivated individual skilled in running a non-profit entity and working with its ten member Board of Directors in establishing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures to achieve the overall mission of BCDC while developing networks and partnerships with private and public stakeholders. Key responsibilities include the facilitation of business start-ups, job retention, expansion and recruitment in cooperation with the Small Business Development Center; promotion of the area through print, web, social media and through representation at various local, state and national events; fostering further economic development via housing, business, workforce, and tourism development through leadership, communication and collaboration with city, county, state and industry leaders; supervision of BCDC and other full or part time staff; developing and managing the BCDC budget and related financial programs; and gaining an understanding of Bowman County’s overall development potential and working on necessary projects to enhance economic development while maintaining and preserving quality of life. A relevant combination of education and previous work experience will be considered for all applicants, salary and benefits DOE, applicant will be required to reside in Bowman County and willing to start as soon as possible.
