SUE PILKIW

Chair of Membership Services

Working for you

After four years as Chair of Membership Services and Marketing, Pet Heal resigned from her position on CoM. During that time, Pet worked hard on behalf of the Club and successfully led a dedicated team who provided a wide range of services.

As I step into the role of Chair of Membership Services, I would like to thank Pet for welcoming me onto her team, for her guidance, support and friendship. I am aware that Pet is a hard act to follow, but I am determined to continue her good work, along with my colleagues on the Membership Services Team.

Haven Holidays

Another deal for 2022 has been secured with Haven Holidays, these details will be made aware on our website and in our magazine. MCC members will also be entitled to a Haven Freedom Trail discount once you have made one booking with them (qualifying booking), this will be an extra 10% off any other booking (this does not include the £40 Offer). So if you want to stay a weekend you would get Haven’s brochure discount plus a MCC 5% discount plus Freedom Trail 10% (depending on the duration). See info on the Freedom Trail benefits on the Haven.com website.

Membership cards need to be produced at Haven sites, please only one booking per Membership card. Your membership number will now be required on the booking form. There will also be a new code for 2022 which will be held on the members’ website and in the office. See the magazine and handbook for any further deals or updates. Please do not abuse this offer or we will lose it.

Stops, Friendly Parking and Safe Knights. He worked tirelessly on our behalf ensuring the lists were up-to-date. He will be sadly missed, not just for his work, but for his friendship over the years.

The Club’s CLs and Night Stops are listed in this handbook and our separate summer supplement; up-to-date details are also published in our magazine and website. Please use these venues or we may lose them. If you know of anybody interested in joining the growing list of sites please ask them to contact the office. Please also don’t forget our Safe Knight stopovers that are provided by members for members. A friendly place to park up and perhaps meet new friends – give it a go.

Members’ discounts

Remember to check the Handbook before making a purchase you may be able to get a discount.

Motorhome Friendly Parking

Membership Services also collates Motorhome Friendly Parking; if you have any new information please contact me, we all appreciate somewhere to park our motorhomes when out and about.

Marshalling

Sue & Mick Pilkiw are the Head Show Marshalls at the Warner Shows and they and their team will ensure you are met with a cheerful smile, given any necessary information and then parked up safely according to Warner’s instructions. Marshals are on hand to answer any questions or point you in the right direction, give advice and settle complaints when needed. On a busy weekend they can be overwhelmed with the number of vans arriving at any one time, so please wait with patience and understanding.

It was really good to return to camping in Club areas in 2021. Many of our members took full advantage of the Warners Shows. Don’t forget to claim your discount for parking with the MCC at the shows in 2022! Thank you to Maurice and Marion camping alongside the Marshals and providing Insignia for sale at the Shows. A special thank you to all our Marshals, both those who have marshalled for a number of years and those who signed up to the team for 2021.

Disability Advisor

Maurice Brooks is a very active team member on Membership Services, as our Disability Advisor, so any problems please get in touch with him. You will find him also writing articles for the magazine and helping Marion Brooks our Insignia Officer, flying the flag and selling Insignia in our members area, at all the Warner Shows as well as our National every year. The on line shop for Insignia should be up and running as this hand book goes to print.

Safety Officer

Our Safety Officer, Tony Heal, retired from CoM in October 2021. Our grateful thanks go to Tony for working so hard to steer the Club through the Government’s Covid restrictions – not an easy job at all! Keith Poole is the new MCC’s Safety Officer. Please contact him if you have any problems.

Homecraft Coordinator

Homecraft for 2022 National will be now be run by the National Rally Committee, so please make sure that your entry forms are submitted by the appropriate dates given, and please check on the website and magazine for any updates. Please get in touch with Peter Johnston for advice and help on Homecraft. So come on members let’s see plenty of entries for 2022. We are hoping to run the groovy Workshops for 2022, these will be run by Linda Hidderley. If any one would like to do a

demonstration or bring along a much cherished Homecraft display, please get in touch with Peter Johnston.

Publications

Sue Pilkiw co-ordinates the handbook and monthly magazine, a role that involves a lot of time and dedicated work. All CoM members have to insure that information needed to be included in both the handbook and magazine meet the deadline which our coordinator has set, especially for the magazine.

Office team

Membership Services can only effectively function with the ever present assistance from our office staff Ron Harris and Julie Stanbridge and from Peter Heale our Webmaster. Thank you to Mark Shreeve and Jade Soanes who are the magazine and Handbook team at the publishers. They are always ready with advice and support to Membership Services. Their help has been welcomed by me throughout the year.
