The Ollerod

Dating from 14th Century The Ollerod is a magical Dorset country house full of character – the product of generations of history passing through its doors. Originally a clergy house, it now has its own unique style. ‘Ollerod’ is the old Dorset dialect, from the times of Thomas Hardy, for the Cowslip.

Situated in the picturesque town of Beaminster, which borders 3 counties, The Ollerod is the perfect place to explore an incredibly beautiful, and untouched, part of England.

The cottage is single storey with two bedrooms, sleeping four. With a private patio area and has easy access. There are patio doors in both the lounge area and kitchen making it very light and airy. We have great internet service.

It is south facing so making it ideal for breakfasts and BBQs on the terrace in the sun. It is surrounded by grass so ideal for dogs and children but it is also quiet and private so equally great for couples or friends. There is a patio table and chairs, sun umbrella and a BBQ. Also provided are 2 reclining patio chairs and 2 folding picnic chairs. With an open plan layout for the kitchen, dining area and living room you won’t be far from the conversation.

The glamping bedroom hut is nestling in the garden of this charming Georgian house in the centre of a traditional Dorset village. It’s cosy and super comfy with double glazed windows and central heating. The double bed can be converted to twin beds. Within a couple of steps is the bathroom hut with shower, toilet and basin. There is a garden table and 2 chairs on the lawn and you’re free to enjoy the rest of the walled garden. Dogs are welcome.

Nearby is a hut which has a raised fireplace. All 3 huts are for exclusive use. Cost, £90 per night incl. continental breakfast. There are also 2 double bedrooms in the main house which are adjacent to their dedicated bathroom with bath, overbath shower, toilet and basin. £90 per night per room. The bbq hut with raised central fireplace can be used to just sit and enjoy the space. If you wish to light the fire, use the fridge and microwave a small charge will be made which includes logs and kindling. You can order yummy freshly made meals in the village and there is a cafe opposite. Excellent food is served in our pub which is 2 minutes’ walk.
