This summer, Covenant Day’s ContainIt team began the work of transforming a used shipping container into dormitory space for students living on the impoverished Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The more than two million acre reservation is plagued with poverty, suicide, alcoholism, and abuse. A small team of CDS students and teachers traveled to the reservation in May. They witnessed life on the reservation, the impact of prayer, and how Covenant Day could make a difference. ContainIt’s repurposed container will provide a refuge for the youth in Pine Ridge who are struggling and being persecuted for their faith. Visit www.covenantday.org/ContainIt to learn more.
What is the Annual Campaign? The Annual Campaign, Covenant Day’s annual giving program, is a yearly fundraising program that raises restricted and unrestricted funds to support strategic initiatives of our school. Each year from July 1 to June 30, members of the CDS community (alumni, current parents, trustees, alumni parents, grandparents, friends, faculty, staff, and students) are asked through personal solicitations and direct mail to invest in the future of our students by supporting the Annual Campaign. The reason restricted and unrestricted gifts are the essence of annual giving is because these gifts are made with the foresight that the needs of CDS students and faculty are central to our mission. These gifts allow the school to apply resources where they are needed most during the current school year. Recognizing that everyone has areas they are particularly passionate about, we want to give you the opportunity to allocate your investment in CDS to one or more of the following budget areas: Head of School Discretionary Fund This fund allows our Head of School to address Covenant Day’s greatest and most prominent academic, athletic or fine arts needs.

What is the Legacy Campaign? The Legacy Campaign, as a component of Covenant Day’s long term vision strategy, is a multi-phase campaign for capital improvements to our campus. Phase 1 of Legacy was launched in the fall of 2014. By the summer of 2015, the school community raised over $5.7M in gifts and pledges which has allowed us to move forward with the construction you see on campus today. As successful as this phase of Legacy has been, there are additional investments that have been deferred until further funding is received. We would like to include these in Phase 1. If you have not made a gift to Legacy or wish to extend your pledge, those dollars will move us toward completing the upfit of the Wilcox Building for our lower school students, completing the upfit of classrooms in the B Building for fourth grade, adding the climbing wall to the new high school, completing the greenhouse in the new high school and completing the new athletic field to be used for practice and competition.
