Our Beaches COVERED. team had an extraordinary day capturing the Spring season's Magazine cover. And, we can't wait to share insider tips for achieving that coveted cover-worthy look. We've handpicked a list of must-visit local brands in The Beaches area for Spring.

Models Lily and Marizela started their day with the skilled hairstylists Beth and Bronte from Studio 8 Manly, while makeup artist Meghan created a fresh Springtime look.

Our shoot took place at the Manly Pacific Hotel, featuring the exclusive Infinity Residence suite designed by Coco Republic, and the rooftop pool with breathtaking ocean views.

Models were adorned with exquisite jewellery by Brigitte from Manly Jewellers. Nash + Banks provided accessories, including sunglasses and hats, while Beachfox's sunscreen, offering SPF 50+ UVA/UVB protection, ensured sun safety.

Emporio Home & Flowers decorated the suite and our models with beautiful Spring blooms.

We wrapped up our shoot at 55 North, Manly Pacific's stylish bar, sipping on Spring cocktails featuring Manly Spirits' Lilly Pilly Pink Gin and Zesty Limoncello liqueur. •

We chose these exquisite evening gowns at Sale Lab, complemented by bespoke jewellery from Manly Jewellers in Manly. Our destination was 55 North at the Manly Pacific Hotel, where Bar Manager Mia delighted us with two signature cocktails featuring Manly Spirit's Lilly Pilly Pink Gin. The finishing touch was the beautiful floral arrangements from Emporio Home & Flowers in Manly.

We spent an afternoon hunting through the wonders Sale Lab has to offer, with the intention of finding a beautiful piece to use for our cover shoot. The problem was we found too many! Bronte, Beth & Meghan

The lovely girls at Studio 8 Manly provided hair and make-up for our stunning models on the day of our Spring cover photoshoot. The team at Studio 8 are all highly experienced and have worked in premium salons across Australia and around the world. They understand that a day at the salon is a luxury and are dedicated to providing all their clients with an enjoyable experience. We guarantee that you will leave feeling happy, relaxed, rejuvenated and stylish.

Bronte has been hairdressing for seven years, and her fervour only grows. She loves styling in particular, so you can imagine her excitement when she was asked to be a part of the photoshoot. There is an art to combining old and new techniques used within the industry and Bronte strives to achieve this by drawing inspiration from head stylists overseas, who constantly push boundaries and set new trends.

To achieve Lily’s subtly stylish and organically relaxed look

Bronte prepped Lily’s hair with Kevin Murphy’s "Hair Resort Spray", to ensure she had enough hold for this style to make it through the day. Using the GHD "Classic Curl Tong" she curled the hair in alternating directions, and to finish, used her personal favourite Kevin Murphy’s, "Bedroom Hair". Bronte finds that this product adds the perfect amount of texture and hold, helping her achieve the "effortless" look.

Mission accomplished!

Beth has been pursuing her dream of becoming a hairdresser for six years. She is an expert at styling, creating editorial looks, bridal hair, up-styles, and textured curls.

When it comes to bringing looks to life Beth also swears by the Kevin Murphy range. Their "Body Builder" mousse adds amazing volume, the "Hair Resort Spray" gives that perfect grip for hair that won't hold a curl and the "Bedroom Hair" is a classic texturizing must-have for all hair types.

To style Zela’s hair for the shoot she used the beach resort spray to prep the hair and then curled it away from her face. She then gathered the hair into a low ponytail, split it in two, and pinned it around in a messy yet elegant spiral. To add that extra touch, she pulled out some faceframing pieces, curled them, and finished the look with a spritz of Session Flex hairspray.

Meghan has been doing make-up for six years and received a diploma of Screen and Media Make-Up from ACMUSE in Broadway in 2018. Natural glam is Meghan’s favourite style, she loves using cream products and bronze tones to give the skin a healthy glow. Meghan finds that she is constantly exposed to an endless stream of inspiring Make-Up artists through social media. Utilising social media as a tool, Meghan has discovered talented artists across Australia, that she likes to draw inspiration from and learns new techniques. Meghan's essential products, which she can't imagine life without are; comprise BenNye cream blushes, all of the Benefit brow products, Hourglass pressed powders and bronzers, Mac lipsticks and lipliners, and Nars sheer glow foundations.

MEGHAN'S MAKEUP COVER LOOK

Step 1: Cream products to prep your skin. Use loose translucent powders so the cream products shine through.

Step 2: Avoid using too much colour on your eyes. Meghan used a variation of bronzers then built on it with eyeshadow, this kept the eye natural looking but still created interest.

Step 3: Set with a shining setting spray to give the skin a natural glow and maintain your look all day. •

The Studio 8 EXPERIENCE

The saying “Good things come to those who wait” explains how patience pays off. Jenner Dickinson and her team at Studio 8 in Manly have opened a new elegant and modern salon in Mosman. Jenner recently had a chat with Beaches COVERED. about how her patience and hard work have paid off, helping her successfully start a second salon in the heart of Mosman.

On the first floor, above the well-known "August The Old Place Mosman" at the corner of Military Road and Gouldsbury Street, the recently established salon, is a stylish and sophisticated oasis, surrounded by trees.

As you climb the stairs to the terrace, you’ll notice the skillful restoration of the building’s original architecture. The high ceiling, exposed timber beams, and impressive atrium have been brought back to their former glory, filling the area with gentle natural light filtered through frosted glass. The salon features a combination of raw native hardwoods, locally crafted lounge chairs designed by Osier Belle, and eye-catching walls showcasing products. This creates a spacious and serene environment, providing areas for both work and relaxation while you enjoy your salon experience.

“We wanted to create a spa-like salon experience that people will look forward to visiting. A sanctuary where the team gets to focus on your hair while you can catch up on work, enjoy a place to read, or chill from busy schedules,” says Jenner.

A secluded large hair washing space accommodates four impressive basin stations with mood lighting and soothing music that matches the luxurious head massage you’re in for.

Aware of the demanding juggle we all face, Jenner has introduced a consultation preference option to select

a silent appointment. This gentle chitchat sidestep is a breath of fresh air for anyone trying to multitask or tune out.

“Our focus is on relaxation, whatever that means to you,” says Jenner. “Some people want to chat while others want to plug in their laptop and get some work done without feeling rude.”

Jenner is also passionate about education, positioning all her stylists with the latest advancements in the industry.

“What sets us apart is our commitment to skill development for our stylists, sending them to up to two training sessions every month,” beams Jenner. “It is an industry that is always evolving and we want to stay at the forefront.”
