It’s summer people. Love it! Cricket season, endless beach days, BBQs, sunburn, bluebottles, hot days and warm nights.

Okay, bushfires, flies, 42-degree days… You need to take the good with the challenges and let’s face it, the bush fire fighters have had a monstrous time of it of late. As we go to press there are still many fires burning. A big shout out to all the volunteers who have devoted their precious time and energy risking their lives to keep those, unfortunately in the path of the many fires, safe. These guys are 1000% tops and deserve all of our thanks.

On that note, and a very cool thing, my wife Amanda recently gifted a pressie for ‘adopt an injured koala’ from the recent fires in Port Macquarie. It’s to help in the rehabilitation of the koalas. An awesome idea, so jump onto that this Christmas and support a worthy cause - www.koalahospital.org.au.

‘Summer Earth’ is here. Issue 22 is full of lots of eco initiatives and talking about what people and businesses need to do to do their bit.

How are you doing your bit? For sure, we like the idea of Keep Cups, but how many of us actually use them? Are you recycling everything you can? Do you compost? It all starts with us! Make a concerted effort this season, buy less useless junk, reuse more and truly think about the use of plastic and other single use items.

Summer Smuggling! Our cover shoot was a lot of fun. Thanks to Jarrod and Sam from Budgy Smuggler and the kids - Charlie, Ruby, Scarlett and Ivy - for a great afternoon down at our favourite beach, North Curly.

There’s a lot to get your teeth into for summer. We have Jimmy ‘Salty Rooster’ answering some big questions; staycations at Q Station and NRMA Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park in Narrabeen; The Beaches Markets and the many restaurants in our Eat, Drink & Dine Guide. The Corner at Queenscliff, Cook Room and One Café are to name a few. If you’re keen, visit Dee Why’s newest dive bar - Wings & Tins on Pittwater Road and taste a ‘Beached AZ’ tinnie from Modus Operandi Brewing Co.

There’s a lot to discover this summer. Grab the family and the kids, venture out and enjoy all the fun experiences we have recommended in our Summer Guide.

Speaking of wellness, OrangeTheory has opened up at the Mall and the wild women are exploring our beaches with Coastrek.

If summer style is on your list go check out the fashions at This & That Boutique and Wildflowers in Manly. Westfield Warringah Mall has all the ethical styling brands. The Property guys are leading us into 2020 with homestyling tips and eco-friendly clean starts.

Issue 22 is our biggest magazine yet, with a massive 112 pages. A big shout out to my team lead and sister Megan, as creative director it’s been weeks of sourcing, writing and designing.
