Flower Child:
bright, beautiful and delicious
For Flower Child, details are everything. The meticulousness of this commitment to detail is evident in the polished cutlery, the stylised, understated style of the decor, and the fresh daisies and baby breath in glass bottles. True to the name, the flowers change on a weekly basis.
After their success at Chatswood Westfield, it was a no brainer to bring the authentic Australian café style to the Northern Beaches. The delicious menu is inspired by the various backgrounds of their hospitality crew including Brazilian, Israeli, French and Modern Australian. Their menu is always changing to stay with what produce is in season, and the emphasis is on quality, from produce to presentation.
They hand select the top rate products from local suppliers, looking for consistency down to every last detail, even the flesh to stone ratio of an avocado. Intention and mindfulness for quality is at the heart of this meticulous yet worthwhile process.
Some of their standout dishes include The Vegan Bowl which has rainbow quinoa salad with watermelon radish, dressed in a creamy miso dressing with their house made falafel and sweet potato & jalapeño corn hummus. For those with a sweet tooth, you can’t go pass their Instagrammable Hazelnut French Toast, garnished with hazelnut dark chocolate crumb, sliced bananas, fresh seasonal berries, salted toffee, Canadian maple syrup and hazelnut gelato.
The open kitchen format keeps the chefs honest, and makes whatever they’re cooking up pretty irresistible for passersby.
“We have the opportunity to talk with the customers. We know the regulars and we get good feedback,” said Head Chef Luis.
The community spirit is strong at Flower Child, with the friendly staff led by venue manager Calvin who said, “We’ve got a good team here, and there’s a strong teamwork vibe. Everyone helps everyone.”
Not only can you enjoy their delicious brunch by day, but you can also enjoy long summer European nights at their restaurant on Thursdays, perfect for when you need a bite to eat while doing some late night shopping before Christmas.
Yan, the Flower Child Group Director said, “The core value of Flower Child is to create something that stands out of the crowd. We’re creating a flower garden feeling in urban life, bringing the outside in. It’s a unique experience.”
Yan has a strong background in restaurants and hospitality, having worked over ten years in the industry. His experience, in heading up Flower Child, drives a premium dining experience, making this café a destination for every snap happy foodie on the Northern Beaches and beyond.
When you’re in a rush doing your Chrissy shopping, Flower Child also offers takeaway. Or why not grab one of their Parisian inspired danishes or pastries? Baked and delivered fresh daily, seven days a week, with love, straight from the Grounds of Alexandria.
Colour plays a huge part in their dishes, especially their whimsical desserts, which include edible flowers. The flora theme flows through the decor too, of this upmarket, boutique café, with leafy bursts of green everywhere. The shop was built to fit the curve of the Westfield design, and the result resembles a giant vintage birdcage that is truly unique.
Their core value is to create a dine in experience that is unique and can be shared with loved ones. So come and unwind in the Northern Beaches’ prettiest cocoon. •
