We were inspired by different cultures and traditions all over the world and in the most beautiful wonders nature has to offer. Within a wide diversity of styles, there are several options to fit any home décor: modern or classic, soft tones or bright colors; in any case the fabrics chosen are always high quality ones, mostly in cotton velvet, and each piece is carefully handmade. Nature was tone of our first inspirations. The IBIS family of products was inspired by the natural elegance of these birds long slim legs. The COMO family was named after the impressive Lake Como, in Italy, and NUKA pieces represent a magnificent glacier in Alaska. Mountains are also a fascinating natural element and a true inspiration for unique furniture pieces. According to the Greek mythology, Oreas is the god of mountains, so BRABBU created the OREAS family to honour his greatness, also emphasized in the ANDES armchair and 2 seat sofa. History and traditions must be a great reference for our designers, this time with a special focus on sophistication and refinement. Ancient Roman women dressed with a distinct and incomparable class, and STOLA characterizes their feminine clothes. Following the history line, the royalty of Louis XIV Bourbon dynasty inspired the velvet BOURBON family, and the PLUM family celebrates the opulence color.

Divine Project of
CLASSIC MODERNISM CHICAGO-BASED DESIGNER DONNA MONDI CHANNELS THE DARK GLAMOUR OF 1920S CHICAGO IN HER LATEST INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT FEATURING KOKET. Donna Hall, principal of Donna Mondi Interior Design has been successfully creating interiors with a delicate fusion of European Classicism and American Modernism. In her most recent Chicago project, Hall’s inspiration is the sultry charm of Roaring Twenties Chicago, taking advantage of the unique architecture of the space.
To add some symmetry and balance to this playful space, Hall created matching scenes on either side of the fireplace featuring two custom . KOKET Divine Armoires. The iridescent peacock feather armoires were custom made into chests, then Hall topped them with hung Art Deco mirrors, to adorn either side of the fireplace for luxurious his and hers spaces.
“The overall inspiration came from the era of the 1920’s in Chicago. I always take cues from the architecture of a space and then twist it in a modern way,” says Hall.
The Divine Armoire is a brand favourite, not just for its exotic and appealing design, but for the message it conveys with its erotic presence. The alluring armoire is the perfect embodiment of KOKET as a brand, from its opulent natural iridescent peacock feathers to the flirty gold ribbon handle, evocative of girlish innocence. Hall’s favourite design trend of the moment is incorporating bold pops of colour, seen throughout this interior design project specifically in the girl’s bedroom. The colours mingling in the dramatic rabbit print wallpaper are mimicked in accessories around the room such as the fuchsia bedding and flowers.
Her interiors are composed of bold elements layered with textures and patterns, but with a cohesive feeling that runs throughout the design. One of her noted design signatures is to play with the ceiling design or the “5th wall” as seen in the Dining Room of this project. Hall covered the ceiling in an ethereal Maya Romanoff wallcovering while painting the surrounding walls in a glossy black lacquer to reflect light throughout the oval shaped room. The split Living Room also features a dynamic plaster ceiling, added to complement and downplay the striking portrait that immediately grabs your attention. The Master Bedroom flashes tones of gold and white, as apparent in the lively, vintage-vibe wallpaper.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW To Marco Costa - Brand Manager and Head Designer
It has been an incredible journey through the last 13 years for Boca do Lobo. 13 Years of excitement, fascination, exclusive design and outstanding couture furniture. Boca do Lobo always has been fascinated by reinterpretation of the past through technology and contemporary practice. Design is engrained in Boca do Lobo’s DNA, and has played a leading role since the very beginning. Because of this, each piece has a unique, timeless character, revealing an attention that goes down to the smallest detail. How and why did you get into the design Industry? It was from the early years that I started to show my interest in craftsmanship works. I was a nightmare at home, drawing on the walls at home, and destroying my sister’s dolls in order to do other “artistic” constructions. The thing I liked the most was to be close to my father who is a metallurgic artisan. I love working with him, and I believe that’s how the passion for arts began. In 2004, I began my academic journey studying science; an adventure that soon I discovered it was not my passion. My heart was beating for creativity and this way I decided to study Arts and Design at University of Coimbra, Portugal. In 2009, I wrote my final dissertation on “Design, Art and Emotion”, and that’s how my relationship with Boca do Lobo began. We started working together on successful projects since day one, since we developed projects all over the world. It has been very exciting to be a part of Boca do Lobo’s internationalisation, and contributing to it’s growth!

That process isalready controlled by so many factors, internal and external, throughout one’s entire life, but especially during childhood. Or not. It’s the kind of thing that keeps you thinking. I find it interesting when designers or artists are asked about their inspirations and what’s behind their creative process. Sometimes you hear some great histories about a perfect world where inspiration lives in. However, those perfect histories only exist in books. Regarding your question, the creative process is something between your past experiences and the things you’ve been through, and your future with everything you can still experience and control. For that I believe it’s important to plan trips, study your favourite contemporary artist, analyse your past experiences, visit museums, get to know new cultures and get references from historical periods and styles of which you connect with. What are some of your most popular designs? Tell us a bit about some of your designs and what you love about them. What’s your favorite and why? The Heritage sideboard from Limited Edition Collection was the project that gave me the most satisfaction, because of its strong connection to Portuguese History. At the beginning of 2012, at Maison & Objet, it was considered a Trend Product, by Nelly Rodi. It made me very happy! Pixel Cabinet is also a piece from the same collec-

tion that I am very proud of. It is a remarkable piece that has conquered many international recognitions and a piece that marks a special moment of the brand. What is your philosophy on design and life? Early in my student times I was fascinated by emotional design, hence it being the main topic of my final project. Boca do Lobo was the perfect place for me to explore this subject. Working closely with a lot of artisans, full of knowledge, experience and personal techniques has always been very important to me. Being able to combine that with contemporary design is still a big challenge today, but that gives me great pleasure. I believe that society is getting tired of the industrial processes and for masses and in a time were design takes a short time in people’s life, my fight is to change this “way of living” from everyone. What are your design dreams/goals? My design dream… I would like, or better, I hope my pieces remain relevant for years to come, and that can be passed down from generation to generation. A bit like a family jewel, with an ephemeral character, against the massive production. Describe yourself in three words. Dedicated, passionate about my work and… shy.
