Fine and Decorative Art Live Salesroom Auction July 13-14, 2013 Cowan’s Summer Fine and Decorative Art Live Salesroom Auction will feature a fine selection of American and Continental furniture, sterling silver, glass, porcelain, paintings and works on paper. Collections include the Jan Sorgenfrei Collection of Civil War Folk Art Carved Pipes and a single owner collection of A.E. Crowell miniature birds. Additionally, Cowan’s will be hosting their first ever solo artist exhibition on July 12th, 13th and 14th in conjunction with the auction. The exhibition will include over 20 works by the well-known Kentucky artist, Henry Faulkner. The works by Faulkner will range from his time in Key West to rural Kentucky scenes and still-lifes. An exhibition catalogue will accompany the works.

Asian Art Live Salesroom Auction September 13, 2013 Cowan’s Asian Art Live Salesroom Auction will feature an exceptional selection of both decorative and fine Asian art, such as rosewood and huanghauli furniture, jade and ivory carvings, finely crafted porcelains, hollow-cast bronzes, painted scrolls, and Chinese export objects. Notable items in this sale are a Large Chinese Jadeite Covered Vessel, estimated $20,000 - $30,000 and a 18th/19th Century Large Tibetan Bronze Seated Buddha, estimated $20,000 - $30,000.

Live Salesroom Auction September 20, 2013 Two major collections will be featured in the September 20th American Indian Art Live Salesroom Auction. The collection of the Creek Council House Museum Association will be one highlight of this auction. This collection was formerly housed in the historic 1878 Creek Council House located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Within the collection is a George Washington Peace Medal, a 19th century Seminole Big Man’s Shirt, an early 19th century Creek Garter, presidential signed documents, 19th century photography, and art from current Muscogee artists. Additionally, the second portion of the Marvin Lince Collection of Early American Indian Weaponry and Accoutrements will offer a Blackfoot Dag Knife with Pony Beaded Knife Sheath, a Cheyenne Cradle Board, and a Brass and Silver Inlaid Pipe Tomahawk. A section of Western art features two oil paintings by Joseph Sharp. Finally, a selection of Roland Reed photographs will be offered with a special book signing by Ernie Lawrence, author of Alone with the Past: The Life and Photographic Art of Roland W. Reed.

Historic Firearms and Early Militaria Live Salesroom Auction October 22-23, 2013 Consignment Deadline: July 27, 2013 Cowan’s is pleased to offer the second portion of the Class III Collection of Richard Wray, which includes over 60 Class III weapons, as well as the Collection of Dr. David M. Nash of Texarkana, Texas. The auction will also include an assortment of firearms collectibles, Kentucky rifles, shotguns, powder horns, pistols, revolvers, muskets, helmets, uniforms and other firearms accoutrements.
