The World Championship Rope Horse Futurity marks its fourth year hosting the event at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity®.
F
or the fourth year, The World Championship Rope Horse Futurity makes its home in Fort Worth to crown champions during the 2021 Snaffle Bit Futurity®. Open to 4-, 5-, and 6-yearold horses, the format consists of three
full rounds of competition, plus a finals for top qualifiers. Horses advancing to the finals will keep their composite score from the preliminary rounds, and champions in each class will be crowned based upon the highest combined score from three rounds and the

finals. All exhibitors must be National Reined Cow Horse Association members to compete. Divisions for the World Championship Rope Horse Futurity are Open Heading and Open Heeling, with incentives offered to the highest placing 4-year-old horse, highest placing No. 6 and lower header, and highest placing No. 7 and lower heeler. Scores are based on two judges’ scores, plus points from the time accrued on the run. Time points are calculated by taking a base score of 80 then subtracting the time on the run. A 10-point penalty will be assessed for a broken barrier and 5-point penalty in the case of roping a leg. Riders are allowed to compete on unlimited horses per side and will pay $1,500 in an entry fee per side. The event, sponsored by DT Horses, will kick off Thursday, October 21, at 8 a.m. in the John Justin Arena, beginning with the Open Heading and the first round of Open Heeling. On Friday, October 22, all Open Heeling gos and short-gos of Open Heading and Heeling will be held. Saturday, October 23, at 8 am, all Non Pro Heading and Heeling, plus short gos, will complete the event. For more information on the ARHFA visit www.americanropehorse.com.
