Introduction

The Cowes Charter is part of our guarantee to each Cowes Enterprise College student.

In addition to high levels of attendance and academic progress, students build a portfolio of experiences throughout each year, based on access to a wide range of experiences to develop both their academic and personal skills to be the best they can be. These experiences go above and beyond the standard curriculum offer for every child. Participation is an integral and compulsory part of being a successful student at Cowes Enterprise College.

At key stage 3, students complete a set of experiences through their time with us each year across the years 7, 8 and 9. These experiences are designed to build and expand upon the curriculum and provide opportunities for students to shine as individuals.

The key stage 3 Charters cover five key areas:

1. Perform for a variety of audiences 2. Take advantage of enrichment opportunities 3. Make a contribution to society 4. Show all round learning 5. Be involved in the wider life of the school

In year 7, students are guaranteed a wide range of experiences from actively taking part in opportunities designed to develop their character to encouraging further learning on being an active citizen and preparing for life in the modern world.

In year 8, the Charter builds on the portfolio of experiences and skills students developed in year 7, in addition to providing opportunities to further develop character and resilience, alongside opportunities to take part in enterprise activities and opportunities for you to explore experiences in careers and develop employability skills.

In Year 9, the Charter continues to build on the portfolio of experiences that students had in year 8, with the addition of further enterprise and career opportunities that further extend personal development opportunities in preparing for the future.
