EAL &friends

At EAL and Friends club, students can play games, meet other students who speak another language, sing along with song lyrics, get help with homework, get questions about school and the English Language answered, read a book and ask what words mean.

As it's at lunchtime, students may eat their lunch.

Drama club

Exciting opportunity to perform and develop your drama skills. This will be through producing short improvised and scripted performance piece including opportunities to perform at the Creative evening and School Production Tuesday 3-4pm CA09
Film Club This will involve using the interfilm resources to watch, review and make short films. Summer Term Wednesday 3-5pm CA13

Art club
We do a variety of Art skills and mini projects that are usually a bit different from those we do in class, such as large-scale pastel pieces or creative Textiles and print making. We also make group pieces such as displays for Remembrance Day and help make things for the school play.

Eco council

We exist to promote environmental awareness around the school, maintain our status as an ecoschool and educate the next generation on how to protect the Earth.

We engage in activities to reduce our carbon footprint

Last year achieved the Green flag award with Distiction

Design and technology

• KS3 DT - making a series of products in the DT workshops - using the workshops and lasercutter to produce some small products

• KS3 CAD/CAM - developing knowledge of the CAD and CAM equipment in DT - rapid prototyping design and 3D printing

• DT Y11 NEA support - NEA support in an afterschool session to help students complete their project work. Technology Area - Dates to be confirmed

Boat building club

Working on the CEC wooden boats - A practical session for an hour after school for you to work on one of several boats we have in DT to complete refurbishment, repairs and a new build of wooden boats.

Develop the skills and techniques used in manufacturing and repairing boats

LGBTQ+ known as Skittles

The Cowes LGBTQ+ club (Wednesday lunch for main school and Thursday lunch for 6th formers) is a friendly, welcoming place for our LGBTQ+ community and our allies. We chat and discuss topics and news items that interest us; especially films and TV series with LGBTQ+ characters and plotlines. We share experiences and support each other.

This club is open to people interested in writing and drawing- we will need illustrations to go with our exciting stories!

The genre is adventure/ fantasy and we will be creating all sorts of creatures, heroes and villains to bring to life!

Wellbeing

In 6th form wellbeing we are working on taking a proactive role in our own wellbeing, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

We have been working on Pilates' based relaxation, breathing and mindfulness techniques, meditation and self-awareness.

We are extending this this term to include CBT and mental health.

Our focus is both to relax and to give ourselves tools to combat stress and negativity.

Duke of Edinburgh gives you the opportunity to have a blast with your friends.

You will learn a new skill, volunteer to help others and participate in a physical activity. Then you will go on expedition where you will navigate, cook food and complete an aim / challenge that you set as a group.

This is your award... you make decisions about your journey and about the activities for your award. This is a nationally recognised award that is endorsed by the Royal Family.
