NEWSLETTER Friday 17th January Dear parents and carers, Congratulations to our Year 13 students who continue this week to receive exciting university offers – one student has received an offer for Oxford University this week and we also have offers in for medicine courses. It is really wonderful to hear each day of the offers our students are receiving and I will keep you updated on their successes through this term. After a very busy first week back it has been fantastic to see students settle so well into their learning, clubs and homework. Well done to them all. Last night we had our foreign exchange parent meetings and students are clearly looking forward to their time immersed in another culture. Over the next few weeks we have a very purposeful and enriching time, with Year 8 and Year 9 parents’ evenings, university visits for students in Year 8, a Speaker’s Workshop for Year 9 students, a Duke of Edinburgh practice walk, drama performances and practical mock exams. We are also moving closer to the fantastic Island-wide event of the Noel Turner Science Festival, which takes place on February 6th and 7th this year. This Festival is being run by Winchester Science Museum this year and is promising to be even bigger and better than in previous years. Students join us from across the Island but all students in Years 7-10 will be able to take part in this event, which combines dynamic and practical learning about science with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) career support. Please note that this year to ensure that our students can experience the re -vamped Festival fully, we have no early closures.
My parent surgeries continue this term on Tuesday afternoons. Please either email dharrison@cowesec.org or phone the school on 01983 203103 asking for Donna Harrison to book a pre-booked slot. Wishing you a great weekend, Rachel Kitley Click the arrows or swipe to turn pages
We wish Amanda Clayton well in her new endeavors as she moves for personal reasons to another mainland school from Monday 20th January.
