NEWSLETTER Friday 22nd November Dear parents and carers, I am proud of the broad and balanced curriculum that Cowes Enterprise College is able to deliver to our students and my team and I continually look for ways to enhance our curriculum, to ensure it best meets the needs of the students both now and for their futures. The decision has been made to adapt our offering in school to ensure students from Cowes Enterprise College continue to have the best opportunity to achieve their ambitions beyond their time here. To allow our students to experience a broad curriculum for as long as possible, the Key Stage 3 curriculum will be extended into Year 9. This will move the timing for students to pick their Key Stage 4 options into Year 9, allowing them the opportunity to develop a better understanding of the course requirements of subjects before they are asked to make a choice about their future study. The additional time allocated in Year 9 will allow more depth in each subject to ensure that our students have a better understanding across a wider range of subjects. Students will also get the opportunity to experience taster lessons. Please do speak to Ms Davis if you have any questions regarding this. With only 4 weeks to go until the Christmas break, please be sure to read the ‘Upcoming Academy Dates’ section of the newsletter and to commit events to your diary. Years 11, 12 and 13 have their mocks fast approaching, starting on Thursday 5th December, with a small number of exams beginning earlier, and finish on Friday 20th December. We wish all students well with this very busy period of revision. Our annual school play this year is Robin Hood and his Merry Men and we are delighted that this will be our first ever pantomime. Tickets are now available on Scopay. Our students have been rehearsing with great enthusiasm and it is set to be a fun, fast and furious run of evenings. We would also love to share our Christmas Concert with you at Cowes Enterprise College at 7pm on Thursday 12th December. Thank you to all parents who attended Year 12 and 13 parents’ evening, which was very successful. I was attending the Ormiston Academies Trust annual conference this week and so wasn’t able to attend this parents’ evening as I usually do but do hope that you found this evening useful and positive.
