NEWSLETTER Friday 8th November Dear parents and carers, Ahead of next Tuesday’s sixth form open evening, we have been delighted to launch our new sixth form prospectus which is available to download from our website. Next week, we will be talking to parents and students about this very important next step and choice and will be specifically referring to our very strong outcomes, commented on this summer by Lord Agnew, Government Minister for Schools. Our sixth form also offers small group sizes and personalised attention, effective teaching and learning, a passionate and caring pastoral team and wider enrichment and work experience opportunities. We are very pleased that our own confidence in the sixth form was reflected in our most recent Ofsted report of 2017, which overall reports that leadership of the sixth form is effective. The sixth form section of the report discusses the “exceptional progress” of students and “high quality support”. I am delighted to hear from so many year 11 students that they are focusing on revision and hard at their preparation for the mock exams. Year 11 students are telling us how helpful they find their bespoke revision plans and that they are hard at revision, with many now reporting they are carrying out up to 3 hours a night revision ahead of the trial exams. Well done to all year 11s who are revising with effort and determination – it will make such a difference to your futures and we are proud of you. I continue to offer parent surgery time over the next half term and really enjoy meeting parents in these sessions. A reminder that I hold them twice weekly on a Tuesday afternoon from 1pm – 2.30pm and from 3.30pm – 5.30pm to enable parents to get to know me and discuss the work of the school with me directly. Attendance is by pre-booked appointments only. Please either email dharrison@cowesec.org or phone the school on 01983 203103 asking for Donna Harrison to book in a slot in advance of each Tuesday. With best wishes, Rachel Kitley Click the arrows or swipe to turn pages

Consultation: Admissions Policy 2021-2022

In accordance with the DfE’s 2014 statutory ‘Schools Admissions Code’ guidance the Local Governing Body of Cowes Enterprise College is consulting on the Admissions Arrangements for September 2021 because changes are proposed. The amendment is to the oversubscription criteria inserted as number 4: Children of staff who have, (1) been employed at Cowes Enterprise College for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or (2) have been recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage. The proposed Admissions Policy 2021-22 is available to view by clicking this link or hard copy from the school office. Comments on the proposed admissions arrangements should be sent to the clerk to governors jwareham@cowesec.org or by post to Jill Wareham, Cowes Enterprise College, Crossfield Avenue, Cowes, PO31 8HB by 12 noon on 12th November 2019. www.cowesec.org Official Cowes Enterprise College @CowesEC @cowesenterprise
