YEAR 9 CHARTER GRADUATION
On Tuesday 16th July, we were so pleased to host our annual Year 9 Charter Graduation ceremony!
At CEC, every student in each year group participates in a piece of work where they complete ‘Charter Activities’ during tutor time Our informal Charter curriculum makes a measurable contribution to all aspects of our whole student: cultural capital, knowledge, skills, virtues, life skills, social and emotional development and breadth of experience. All of which are essential in ensuring we meet our mission to ‘educate for life’ At the end of Year 9 we then combine these completed booklets with students' attendance to clubs, achievement points and analysis of their behaviour over the year Students are then awarded with a Bronze, Silver or Gold graduation badge and certificate to formally state that they have successfully transitioned and graduated to Key Stage 4
We were delighted to welcome parents and carers of our students who achieved Gold in the charter to the academy for a celebratory tea party! Students then went on to an afternoon at UKSA where they enjoyed a whole host of water-based fun activities.

Each individual had to compete in maximum events to help gain as many points as possible. The year 9 girls came 6th overall which was great considering they only had five competitors
The year 9 boys came 5th overall
The year 10 girls came 5th overall

Year 9 Students Experience HandsOn Learning at CECAMM
During the Summer Term. every student in Year 9 had the opportunity to embark on an exciting educational trip to the Centre for Excellence for Composites, Advanced Manufacturing and Marine (CECAMM) in East Cowes This visit was a significant opportunity for students to engage in practical learning activities directly linked to their Maritime Curriculum
The trip was meticulously organized in collaboration with the Isle of Wight College, ensuring that the three activities scheduled for the morning aligned perfectly with the curriculum delivered at Cowes Enterprise College These activities provided students with a hands-on experience using industry-standard technology and equipment, which helped consolidate their classroom learning in a real-world context
During their visit, students participated in a variety of STEM activities, including circuit building and working with a wide range of equipment and machinery. These practical sessions were guided by specialist tutors at CECAMM, who provided expert support and insights into advanced manufacturing and marine technologies.
The Maritime Curriculum at Cowes Enterprise College aims to place demanding academic concepts and techniques into real-life settings, leveraging the rich local maritime heritage.
By engaging with the maritime industry, students develop interconnected, rigorous knowledge across various subject areas, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of their local environment
YEAR 9 BOYS RUGBY TOURNAMENT S P O R T S F I X T U R E S
On Tuesday 23rd April Medina College hosted the Year 9 Boys Rugby Tournament.
Cowes were short on players so linked up with Medina to form a team of 11. With the new team mates taking the first game to gel, the team soon appreciated the strength of their first opponents in a hard-fought match With respect being shown to the opposition and each player taking responsibility for their own positions, playing the Cowes Way was clearly shown throughout the game and at the final whistle.
With the new team mates starting to identify their strengths and working together better in the second fixture all players showed great resilience against a stronger more experienced team. Passes linked far better and there were several good phases of play leading to some improved attacking play. Tackles made more of an impact in the team’s defending and again both teams showed the deserved respect for each other.
In the final fixture the game was much tighter and the team played their best game. Players from both Cowes and Medina were now linking up and supporting each other more fluently creating better attacking phases of play and equally defending far better All players were a credit to their respective schools and enjoyed the opportunity to play some competitive rugby.
Well played Joe B, Sam L, Eli H, Rowan C, Oli C and Jenson K!
Year 11 Basketball Friendly CEC v Carisbrooke
On Tuesday CEC welcomed basketball players from Carisbrooke College to play a friendly game, the final fixture before exam season kicks in. Following success at the interschool tournament in February the Cowes team had been looking forward to playing one last game.
From the tip off to the last throw of the game the boys adopted playing the Cowes Way and scored 3 quick baskets With a full game of 4 quarters being played the team made good substitutions throughout the game rotating fairly and also adapted to their opponent’s tactical changes
From the tip off to the last throw of the game the boys adopted playing the Cowes Way and scored 3 quick baskets. With a full game of 4 quarters being played the team made good substitutions throughout the game rotating fairly and also adapted to their opponent’s tactical changes.
With new opposing players not faced at the tournament the boys showed respect to both players and the officials and took full responsibility when playing in different positions when attacking and defending. Good resilience was shown when under pressure whilst defending with many attempts of regaining possession hard fought for.
Plenty of baskets were scored with shot of the match going to Bailey for an exceptional 3-point swoosh from just inside the opponent’s half bang on the half time whistle.
A solid team performance and some good individual phases of play contributed to a comfortable 50-26 win
Well done to Manuel P, Bailey T, Martin C, Connor M, Noah B, Cory H, Lucas F and Charlie A. Mr Hughes is proud of how well the whole team played.
A huge well done to Ewan and Cameron who, over the Easter Break, walked over 120km in Spain and raised funds for Scotty's Little Soldiers.
