down relatively quickly. The house hadn’t been lived in for years, but witnesses said it was a party site for local youths.

A 29-year-old Ladysmith man died last Sunday night after his truck rolled on the Trans Canada Highway near Crofton. Just before 8 p.m., the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, Crofton volunteer fire department and BC Ambulance were called to the scene south of Mt. Sicker Road where the southbound vehicle, a 2008 Ford F150 pickup had rolled, coming to a stop upside down on the highway. The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. According to Cpl. Krista Hobday, witnesses stopped to offer assistance, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The highway was closed for several hours after the crash, and southbound traffic was redirected through Crofton. An RCMP traffic reconstructionist and the BC Coroner attended the crash location.
