MISSION STATEMENT


MISSION STATEMENT Silver Lining Talent is a community theatre group that serves Mecosta County, Michigan and its environs. This non-profit organization began at the Old Jail in Big Rapids, Michigan with a meeting of a dozen people in September, 1981. These charter members started a wonderful tradition of family involvement, friendships and community support for a love of theatre that has lasted for well over thirty years. Today Silver Lining Talent boasts a membership of over 170 families and has presented over 100 productions. Silver Lining Talent encourages those passionate about theatre, educates the community and its young people through special presentations and workshops and also supports drama in the local schools.

Every so often we look back at these wonderful memories, friendships and special nights of magic; and we are mindful of those who have given so much time, energy and talent to get us to this point. Each anniversary is a time for reflection, regeneration,rebirth, reawakening and a rededication to what lies ahead of us. Our mission remains in the name of our organization, Silver Lining Talent. It reflects the positivity and optimism shown from its members since 1981. There is talent within us all, and we give you an opportunity to share that with the rest of community.

PRIMARY “Silver Lining� is a metaphor for optimism. Our name Silver Lining Talent compliments our mission. Through our brand, we want to show the positive emotions our members have expressed through theatre since 1981. This atmosphere brings the community together to create wonderful friendships with lasting memories. The logo mark consists of the year in which Silver Lining Talent was established through negative space. The italicized and script type creates a balance that brings the brand together in a sleek and inviting way.

VISUAL IDENTITY


SECONDARY There are alternative options to the main mark. The wordmark can be used by itself and so can the logo. To maintain a strong brand image it is important that the mark is always applied consistently wherever it appears. It should never be manipulated or distorted. Its color, position, and size will be specified within this document

SOLID BLACK MARK A solid 100% black mark is available to use in appropriate applications. These applications may include situations when the two colors in the primary mark do not show up well on top of the application.

ALTERNATIVE MARK COLORS These are alternative full color options to the secondary mark. These can be applied to applications in which the primary mark colors will not show up on the background.

CLEAR SPACE Clear space is needed to ensure an appropriate amount of space around the identity. Other visual elements should not be within the specified clear space. The clear space requirements are based on half the height of the mark. The larger the mark, the larger the minimum clear space around it should be. There should be one unit of clear space around the entire identity.

UNACCEPTABLE USE These are examples of how the mark should not be treated. The mark cannot be altered in any way. No flipping, stretching, case-changing, or typeface substitutions are acceptable. Such treatments will hurt the recognizability of the identity.

COLOR SCHEME The primary colors are blue and silver. The color silver is sleek and elegant and represents the brand. The touch of silver pops against blue.

TYPOGRAPHY Silver Lining Talent uses Bauer Bodoni and JaneAusten in its mark. These typefaces are only to be used for the mark itself. All other type accompanying this organization should be Frutiger. Various weights are used, a majority of the applications use Frutiger Light.

State Street Dear Robert Clark, Our friends at Stage Door Players will be auditioning for an upcoming play and would like to extend an invitation to Silver Lining Talent’s members and friends to participate in this event. "Exploding Love" is an uproarious tale of love, divorce, and marriage illustrating that no matter how nuts you think you are, someone out there will love you. Quick plot summary: Skeeter still loves his ex wife. When he hears she is about to remarry, he dons a belt of dynamite and barges into the judge's chambers to disrupt the ceremony. He is forced to retreat to the city hall men's room where the groom-to-be and Zeke, a charming eccentric who claims to be a dog angel, become his hostages. Stage Door Players invite you to participate in this hilarious comedy either on stage or crew for performances on May 18, 19, 27, and 28. Eva Walter of Howard City will be auditioning men and women from age 18 to 60 on March 1 & 2 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Stage Door Theater, 1147 Wilcox in White Cloud. INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE The primary purpose of the Silver Lining Talent website is to inform the community on upcoming productions, ticket information, donations and involvement. Silver Lining Talent needs as much support and publicity as they can get. Social media will play a big part in getting their name out. The ability to buy merchandise, give donations and buy tickets all in one spot makes it convenient for its users.

A raucous farce about a dysfunctional theatre group putting on a play in Buffalo with the possibility of Frank Capra coming to select two cast members for his movie.

The wonderful Rodgers & Hammerstein musical of a teacher who brings Western ways to Siam and in turn learns how much the Eastern world has to offer.

A fable about what happens to gambling men and the women who long to tame them, set in the colorful world of New York City in the mid 20th century. This romantic and funny story is populated wi th g a ng ste rs a nd gamblers, missionary dolls and scantily clad showgirls, and has one the great musical scores in the history of American theatre.

Male 21 years old. Student at Ferris State University, studying business. Works part-time on campus. He spends most of his free time rehearsing for productions with Silver Lining Talent.

Female 70 years old. Retired. Involved with many organizations throughout the Big Rapids community.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Uses Google Chrome on a Mac. Dylan uses the internet for homework, social networking, weather, and browsing. He spends 30+ hours a week online. Dylan dislikes websites with too much content along with bad navigation.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Darlene is very tech-savvy for her generation. She uses Safari on a Mac. Darlene uses the internet for news, weather and updates and news from her organizations. She spends 20+ hours a week online. Darlene dislikes websites that are unordered and cluttered, making it difficult to intake the necessary information.

MOTIVATIONS AND NEEDS: Since Dylan is dedicated and passionate about acting, he is always on Silver Lining Talent’s website. He is always showing his friends and family the website to look at for upcoming productions along with past photos. He would like for them to be able to see what it is all about through a well-organized photo gallery.

MOTIVATIONS AND NEEDS: Darlene has never missed a Silver Lining Talent production. She would like to be able to order her tickets directly online, and be able to pick them up right before each production. She likes to view past photos along with seeing upcoming productions. It would be beneficial if the website had an updated calendar of productions so she can plan ahead.
