Welcome #TheRoundUp PUREBRED
The 2023-2024 Student Managed Farm Purebred Unit powered by New Holland would like to extend a warm welcome and invite everyone to the 4th annual Round Up sale on March 23rd, 2024. This year our team had the opportunity to exhibit our cattle at CWA, Cattleman’s Call, and Heartland Cattlemen’s Classic. We are very excited about the cattle we have on offer this year. We believe the bulls are fed to meet their full potential and emphasize their overall capacity. Whether you’re looking for a bull to turn out with your cows and heifers and have no worries or something to add a little performance to your herd, we can guarantee you are in the right place. The set of cattle we have put together this year is something that the team stands behind proudly.
This year we have 4 open heifers on offer that we feel would fit many breeding programs and have the potential to become great foundation females, or some great junior show prospects for summer showing.
If you are interested in high quality Angus genetics do not hesitate to give us a call and arrange a time to come view the cattle. We are more than willing to give you a tour of the calves and the herd anytime!
Sincerely,
THE LAKELAND PUREBRED UNIT Powered by New Holland AgricultureCONTACT

#TheRoundUp EXTENSIVE GRAZING
The 2023/2024 Extensive Grazing Commercial Beef SMF unit powered by New Holland, strives to sustainably manage our herd of Hereford Angus cows while practicing extensive management techniques. We are focused on raising a strong maternal cow herd, we choose methods to stick to our mission of being low maintenance and minimum amount of handling. However, we are focused on advancing the maternal traits in our herd, thus keeping lots of data on our animals and we like to keep our information in the system up to date. We aim to graze 365 days a year, we grazed pasture during the summer, following bringing them home we had them graze crop residue; we are now using the winter strategy of bale grazing. Our heifer calves are set to go onto an RfI (residual feed intake) trial which will be part of our criteria for them to stay in our sustainable and extensive herd.
Sincerely,

#TheRoundUp EQUINE
The Equine Student Managed Farm, powered by New Holland Agriculture is excited to have 4 AQHA geldings and one draft cross mare on offer for this year’s 2024 Round Up Sale! The colt starting team has been putting in the hard work training these prospects to make versatile riding horses since the beginning of the academic year in September. All the horses have been exposed to obstacles and ropes since the start of their training, creating long-lasting confidence to carry through to their new homes. This includes crossing bridges and tarps, dragging logs, and opening gates. They have tracked the heel-o-matic and will be working on pen roping live cattle come sale day. Our team has described these prospects to the best of our ability, as their training level and suitability vary. We wish to see our horses succeed in their new homes. Our vision is to produce, select and train quality Quarter Horses with excellent dispositions and conformation, in an economically sustainable format. We are excited to showcase our team’s hard work that has been put into these horses at the Lakeland College Round Up Sale and make new connections with all the great people in the Equine and Beef Industry.
Sincerely,

In loving memory of Tiana Friesen
Tiana Friesen graduated from the Lakeland College Equine program in 2021 and in August 2023 she tragically passed away. The Tiana Friesen Memorial Fund has been created for those who would like to donate in memory of Tiana, and in support of an award that will be created later this year. Tiana’s parents kindly donated Junebug to the memorial fund and all the proceeds made from the sale of Junebug will be placed there. We hope to keep Tiana’s memory alive by creating this fund. If you would like to make a donation to the fund, donations can be made here: lakelandcollege.ca/donate Please select Award/Scholarship/Bursary from the drop down menu and then write Tiana Friesen Memorial in the space below that to ensure the donations will go to that fund.

LAZYMC Angus
The bull feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health; they are developed on grass with their moms on a strict mineral program. All the forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality forages are used. Once the calves are weaned, they are slowly moved onto a balanced TMR.
The bulls are challenged with a forage-based TMR to help them develop and express their genetic potential. Matching suitable protein sources with proper starch is key to promoting lean muscle growth. Organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and overall health. If you have any questions about the nutrition program, please feel free to reach out. Buy with confidence knowing the bulls have been developed on a balanced nutrition program. Best of luck on sale day!
