OUR SALE

Welcome to our 22nd annual bull sale. We have now held the Reid Angus Heat Seeker Bull Sale for the past nine years in Brooks. This year for the first time, at Bow Slope Shipping Association. After 28 years in the purebred Angus business we realize that “Good enough never is.” We are constantly adapting our management and breeding programs to satisfy our dedicated customer’s needs. We ask ourselves on a daily basis how can we be better? We truly believe “Females are our Foundation” Their sons will contribute to your bottom line.

After weaning, the bulls are started, here at home on free choice hay and are hand fed 3 lbs/hd of 12% textured ration for 6 weeks. This ensures that they are quiet, good-natured and there are no temperament issues. In mid October they are moved to the back grounding lot at Bassano where they receive a high roughage totally mised ration until sale day on March 14.

Each year we select 20 yearling bulls that will become our two year olds in next year‘s sale. After wintering at the back grounding lot with the yearling sale bulls they are brought home and put out on summer grass. At the end of October they are brought home and go on feed. Free choice hay and a maximum of 12 lbs/hd/day of 12% textured ration. These coming 2 yr olds are hand fed their grain ration, so we are in with them twice a day, everyday. Temperament is not an issue. These bulls are not pushed, they are developed. We are simply trying to support the bulls structural development as he builds bone and muscle.

All the bulls are semen tested and Vet inspected prior to the sale. Reid Angus and SR Angus bulls come with a buyer satisfaction guarantee. The Reid Angus and SR Angus herds are run and managed together. We are fortunate to have Cole, Sara, Grady and Weston involved. Their help makes a difference for all of us.

Please join us at Bow Slope Shipping Association the evening before or on Sale Day, March 14 to evaluate the bulls personally. Not every picture tells the whole story. Come early for coffee and Baileys and spend some time viewing the cattle and allow us to answer any questions you might have. A prime rib dinner will be served at 11:30, the “Heat Seeker Bull Sale” starts at 1 pm.
