Self - Introduction

ABOUT ME

My name is Chheng Panharith, and I am a third-year Architecture student from Tianjin University who is willing to explore the architecture field by challenging myself in various ways to enhance my practical knowledge and design methodology. Speaking from my experience during the academic year, I’ve been working on various group and individual projects that has drastically developed my critical thinking skills and communication skill with my teammates. By all means, I see myself as a person that doesn’t want to disappoint the team, so I’m keen on devoting myself wholly to accomplish the assigned work. Furthermore, I would like describe myself as an easy-going person, fast learner, enthusiastic, and very adaptable to new environments. Nevertheless, after three-year journey in this field, I believe this is a perfect time for me to seek new experiences and expend my capability to further improve my working skills in the future. I’m glad to learn new things every day and ready to challenge myself with new upcoming opportunities.

Bunlong Sam Sketches and Model

This is the first time I have participated in a competition together with my friends as a team. We are very interested in architecture contests, as we also believe that it is a way to enhance our mindset and skill as architects. Each team member has unique skillsets and design methodology, so we decided to assign different works depending on which assets we are good at as the deadline was only about two weeks. Moreover, this method helped us get into the final selection and win this competition’s first prize.

4

Even though the competition topic seems very simple, it required us to do quite a lot of research regarding what building style suits this topic and what about the landscape design? After that comes the process of hand-drawn sketches and conceptual models, to then transfer those ideas into a computer through 3D models and plan blueprints, which required to elaborate more the project through the design. Another essential aspect was deciding how we would show our idea and what tools we should choose to do it.

This is one of the first sketches that we did to combine ideas to show how the site would look. We believe the most exciting part of the project is how we can understand the site and create a particular type of design that does not stand out too much from the surrounding building around the site. Despite the site design, we also considered what the school building and the square mall should look like, plus how their function should be connected, then we combine them with the relatable style of the other AIS and AII schools.

Nevertheless, we managed to finish this project on time, and we also emphasized the study and comprehension of the design into the building. We want to represent the contemporary architecture style, plus minimal design on how these buildings relate to other MJQ building structures. Visualize photo of AIS School

Then the site locate on the east part of that is used for the Aii language institution and Outlet mall. Lastly, the south of the two sites is used for university and community mall. Nevertheless, all three sites have their unique design and green spaces for the people to make them feel like one with nature. Plus. The canal next to the site also provides cool air during the summer, making the school areas nicely humid and fresh.

RESIDENTIAL BATHROOM SPACE DESIGN Theme - Urbanization Target Users - Young families with young kids between ages of 4 to 8 Specification - 5-6 sqm Residential Bathroom in a Condominum

Design Brief Increased urbanization has caused living spaces to become smaller. With limited living spaces, home owners are looking into making bathroom spaces as multi-functional as possible. Companies are increasingly adopting more regular work-from-home arrangements, which will make bathrooms at home one of most used spaces - from getting ready for the challenges of the day to winding down and relaxing for the night.

Bathroom Design

Design Concept Even though the topic seems very simple, it required doing quite a lot of research regarding what style suits this topic and what about the color theme design? After trying to answer these questions, I decided to elaborate my design idea by paying attention to what most contemporary bathroom design should be like and how to further refurbish this style into a much more elegant and modernize looking bathroom design.

Bathroom Design

Specification I want to use a dark color theme as the core of the interior layout for the design specification. These colors make the bathroom more civilized and look sophisticated. Moreover, the dark marble floor combined with the white marble wall evokes the feeling of luxury and elegance. Because the dark color can make the room feel smaller, I decided to use the white marble and white ceiling as the contrast to make the interior appear more extensive and comprehensive.

Product Specification From my point of view, I would like to say that the usage of different types of products can provide numerous ways of possibilities which influence the outcome of the design. However, we have to take this into deep consideration to understand and be conscious of which product is more suitable in our design and how it can fit the role of the function that we set it in. Moreover, we also have to empathize with the dimension, height, and other requirements that can provide benefits and are simple for everyday activities.
