As a mission agency we exist for one simple reason: to enable churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus. For nearly 180 years, CPAS has been working towards the evangelisation of the UK and Republic of Ireland and that is still our focus today. We greatly value men and women who are called to leadership in local churches. You play a vital role in reaching people in your community with the gospel, and we want to help your church become even more effective in mission and evangelism. Please spend a few moments looking through this leaflet to discover the range of ways in which CPAS can work in partnership with you and your church. I hope you find things which will help your church be equipped and inspired to share the good news of Jesus with more men, women and children. Thank you,

making disciples, developing leaders, growing churches

our work Here is a brief summary of the ministry of CPAS, focused on three main areas:

‘God spoke to me through the Bible teaching.’

Leadership development Events and programmes Training for leaders at all levels in local churches, including events on key leadership topics, vocations conferences and longer-term transformational programmes. Resources for you to use in your church: equip leaders, encourage future leaders and train mentors. See pages 4-5 for more information. Ventures and Falcon Camps Venture holidays: fun, safe and lifechanging holidays for 8-18s attended by nearly 4,000 young people each year. Falcon Camps: more than 20 residential holidays for children and teenagers who face some kind of disadvantage in their daily lives.

‘I had the time of my life!’

’I believe God has called me here to reach a city, not just run a church.‘

See pages 6-7 for more information. Patronage As the UK’s leading evangelical patron, we have sole or shared responsibility for appointing clergy to more than 500 benefices nationwide. We seek to fill vacant parishes with incumbents who have a heart for the gospel, are committed to seeing people won for Christ and built up in the faith. Working with parish reps through what can be a daunting and difficult process, we collaborate with the church and the diocese to discern who God is calling to each individual post. See page 5 for more information.

Leadership development training

Exploring God’s call to ministry.

Developing missional leaders across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

You and Ministry weekends have been helping people discern whether God is calling them to ordained ministry for more than 50 years. We also run lifecall days for those aged 16-25 who are exploring a call to leadership, as well as various online resources. www.cpas.org.uk/vocations

We provide training on an extensive range of leadership development topics, including: Self Leadership, Changing Culture, MultiChurch Leadership, Vision to Action, Developing Leaders, Discerning Direction and Missional Leadership. We deliver events on these and other topics in partnership with several dioceses as part of their IME and CME programmes, as well as organising events at a network of churches which are CPAS training centres. www.cpas.org.uk/training

‘Drawing on their wider experience, CPAS has assisted us in addressing various key leadership issues including helping parishes think creatively about mission.’ Andrew Braddock, director of mission and ministry, Diocese of Gloucester

Arrow Leadership Programme To be led more by Jesus, lead more like Jesus and lead more to Jesus.

The Buck Stops Here

Arrow is an 18-month transformational programme for leaders aged 25-40, combining four week-long residentials with mentoring, peer cells and projects. Based on a biblical model of leadership development, Arrow doesn’t just focus on skills in leadership and evangelism, but considers character and call. www.cpas.org.uk/arrow

This 48-hour conference is a unique opportunity for ordained people who are near to the start of a first post of responsibility, particularly for curates moving to become incumbents. It is also suitable for people returning to parish ministry from non-parochial appointments. www.cpas.org.uk/thebuckstopshere

ventures and falcon camps Attended by more than 4,000 children and teenagers each year, Ventures and Falcon Camps see young people coming to faith, growing in their love for Jesus and being equipped for life-long discipleship. Venture holidays are fun, safe and lifechanging holidays for 8-18s. For more than 50 years, Ventures have been providing great residential Christian holidays for 8 to 18 year olds, including many who are not connected to traditional forms of church. Each of the 90 holidays across England and Wales give them the chance to have new experiences in great places, make lifelong friends, have time to chill out and discover more about the amazing God who created them and the world around them.

‘Going on a Venture is the best week of my year, and I always return feeling encouraged in my faith and eager to tell others about God’ – Naomi, 14 ‘What has happened this week has caused me to try and change my future for the better’ – Oliver, 17 ‘I learned that Jesus rose again to prove our sins were forgiven.’ – Katy, 13 ‘It’s a great place for people to be part of a Christian community and learn about our wonderful God’ – Claire, 17 ‘I loved it so much I have to go again’ – Jessica, 8

Falcon Camps are fun-packed, affordable, unforgettable holidays for 8-18s. Falcon Camps are subsidised holidays providing challenge, excitement, rest and laughter for children and young people facing disadvantage in their daily lives. Each day includes a time learning about the Christian faith in a fun way. This story is an amalgamation of quotes from several young people who attended the Wellingborough Falcon Camp (names have been changed to protect their identities): ‘The funniest thing at Wellingborough was staying up late eating Skittles and getting hyper with Vicky, Jen and Charlie! And when Pippa got put into the boys’ team and they made her into a clown. I got to do mountainbiking, canoeing and high ropes which were all really fun! I learnt that it is easier than you think to talk to and have a relationship with God, and that God has a plan for everyone! Also we need to build relationships with the people we love and show that we appreciate them in our lives.’
