HI STORICAL ANALYSIS: STUDYING OF HISTORICAL MAPS AND CASCINAS HISTORY
Thought the most identifies Parco Forlanini with the romantic park in the middle of the bigger area of Grande Parco Forlanini, the history of this area is very complex and old. The area analyzed - that comprehends the zones between the train station of Milano Forlanini and the Idroscalo - present ten cascnine in it. Most of them dated back in the fourteen century. The most appraciated example is CAscina Sant’Ambrogio as we will explain later in the next slides. More effective is that in this area we found two cascine that took the name from the little village that once and till the first years of the XX century were indipendent from Milan government. These cascine are Cascina Cavriano, the origin of this settlement probably dates back to the XI century; and Cascina Casanova, Casanova. The investigation of historical maps from IGM and cadestral maps available in the archivio di stato of Milan were useful for understanding the configuration of the project site. In IGM Maps we easily read the original landscapes and urban organization: the cascnicas that were more than ten, the fields, the molino, the rogge and all the water system and obviously the paths. These were mainly pedestrian ways and for means traded by animals, boedred with trees. We can recognized the axes of Via Cavriana, Via Taverna and Via Novegro that were present before the main today axis of Viale enrico Forlanini. In the maps we can also read progressivly the changement. In order: the extension of Milan urban tissue, the construction of the railway in the north of the area, along via Corelli, the construction of Idroscalo, the settle of the first industries that fit the places once occupied by agricoltural fields.
