Brainstorm has been pushing the boundaries of virtual set production and development for more than two decades. Since its foundation in 1993 and with the creation of the eStudio, Brainstorm has been at the cutting-edge of innovation in 3D and virtual studio technology. Brainstorm pioneered the application of camera tracking to 3D realtime virtual set and today eStudio interfaces with practically all tracking systems.

The latest development is the Infinity Set, possibly the most advanced virtual set solution in the industry. Infinity Set is the first product taking advantage of the

TrackFree technology, a new, patented and revolutionary approach to virtual set production developed by Brainstorm. TrackFree is a camera-tracking independent technology that provides just what its name claims: total freedom for operators to use any tracking system, trackless or fixed cameras or a combination of these at the same time, while seamlessly integrating them if required, to create a highly appealing and eyecatching viewing experience. It can be used in combination with the integrated internal chroma key software or external chroma key hardware within the same production.

Augmented Reality also requires the interaction between sets, talents and virtual objects, many of them created out of external data sources such as statistics, charts, bars and others. These data-driven objects allow for visually engaging representations of the data which can be better explained by presenters when placed in the set. During election nights, news, sports or entertainment programmes, data bars and other statistics can interact with the talents creating an attractive augmented reality environment for the audience.

Merging the heritage of the Aston brand with 20 years of development of real-time 3D, Brainstorm takes advantage of all the power of the eStudio engine to deliver the most powerful real-time 3D graphics creation, CG and playout solution for any broadcast need.

All the power of Brainstorm real-time graphics is embedded within Aston, which allows operators to create, manipulate, animate and perform last-minute changes to any kind of text, data or video graphics, even during on-air operations. Aston enables the design team to change any of the attributes on the template in real-time making the improvement process easier and faster.

The Aston family is resolution independent and works with any HDTV flavour, 4K or even higher resolutions for larger screens. Aston also features 3D stereo capabilities making it fit for any demanding broadcast requirement, present or future. BRAiNSToRM iN ThE MiddlE EAST

Brainstorm has been committed with the Middle East and Africa since its foundation, recognising both the strategic importance of the region and the boom that virtual graphics and studios have had recently. The company has been increasingly allocating resources to properly take on the many opportunities that appear in the Gulf and beyond.

A key aspect of this expansion strategy is Brainstorm’s ever increasing network of resellers in the region, some with a long-term relationship with the company. Pharaon broadcast in Lebanon and Brainwaves in Egypt are some of these resellers who have landed big-name references such as Al Mayadeen, ERTU, LBC and Al Jadeed, not to mention Al Jazeera, one of Brainstorm’s most relevant customers. Other Brainstorm resellers in the area include FOR-A Middle East, SOFTEDIT in Dubai and DigitalCast in Iran. This network is fully capable and dedicated to assisting customers across the region.

Recent installations in the region include an Infinity Set virtual studio at NCMS (National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology) in Abu Dhabi and an Aston graphics system at IRIB in Teheran.
