RIEDMAN HEALTH CENTER A new breed of Ambulatory Care The new Riedman Health Center offers access to a variety of medical professions in one location and will provide coordinated care to area residents. The Center is intentionally located in a neighborhood shopping area, making it easy to find and navigate. It is a one-stop location for: • Pediatric care • Primary Care • Dental care • Ophthalmology

• Radiology • Telehealth Rooms • ACM Blood Draw Lab • Pharmacy

The former supermarket turned medical center features a welcoming lobby with self-registration and roomy waiting area. Exams are configured to segregate patient and staff flow, enabling a true collaborative workspace for staff It is a model for future similar centers that are focused on the customer experience and improving long term health care outcomes. Riedman Health Center is LEED Silver Certified.

RRH SANDS CONSTELLATION CENTER FOR CRITICAL CARE Flexible Acuity Patient Care Rochester General Hospital (RGH) is building a seven-story addition and undertaking extensive renovations to meet a growing community need in a dynamic healthcare environment. RGH currently operates as an acute care hospital, licensed for 528 beds. Based on the approved concept for expansion and renovation, the new Sands Constellation Center for Critical Care will transform the delivery of care at RGH. It will improve patient flow and accommodate the implementation of the desired nursing care model. In broad terms,

floors four through six of the bed tower will each contain a 30,300 s.f. patient unit with 36 private acuity adaptable rooms per unit.

RIVERCREST AMBULATORY SURGERY Patient Focused Amenities/State-of-the-art Medical Practice In an effort to help provide state-of-theart healthcare to the residents of Caldwell County, CPL worked with Prime Surgical Suites, an affiliate of Caldwell UNC Healthcare, to design a 21,000-squarefoot ambulatory surgery center (ASC) at RiverCrest Medical Park in Granite Falls, N.C. As the first orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in the region, the facility is devoted to orthopedic procedures, including joint,

spinal, foot, ankle and sports-related surgeries. It is even equipped with a NAVIO Surgical System for robotic-assisted total knee replacements. Recovery beds are enclosed on 3 sides for patient privacy and configured for flexible use throughout the day. Waiting offers multiple seating environments to comfortably accommodate, incoming patients and family members in a bright and distinctive space.

PHARMACIES Emerging Technologies for drug formulation Each Hospital and Healthcare System has individual Pharmaceutical needs and systems; and working daily in our client’s facilities has given us an important perspective on how the workplace can be improved to efficiently use space and best serve the customer. Staff operate in private offices, shared workspaces and utilize common areas, and conference rooms. Walking a mile in the clients’ shoes informs our planners and architects in an unparalleled way that adds value for this project.

Healthcare is ever-changing and with the newest requirements of United States Pharmacopoeial and the USP Hazardous Drug identification continues to make an up to date pharmacy one of the most complex departments in the hospital. From identifying how and where the drug is altered to how it is handled by the pharmacist and what environment it can be mixed in, we need not only protect the pharmacist but also the care giver administering the drug and all this for the patient’s protection and safety.

IMAGING New Frontiers for Diagnostics and Treatment Upon entering an imaging suite, other than the daunting machine in the room, the room itself seems simple enough. However, these rooms have many layers of complexity beyond the medical technology. Unit power, emergency backup, uninterrupted power supply, unit cooling, adjustable room lighting, room environmental controls, gantry structure, radiation/RF/magnetic shielding, interactive sound system, custom storage of accessories and contrast elements, handwashing, PPE, work sink, medical gasses, accessible washroom, and control sight lines are just some of the considerations. The objective is to integrate each of these issues into a room that is highly functional and provides a comfortable

setting for both quick diagnostic and longer duration treatments. It is of great importance to understand the complete patient encounter from arrival to registration to dressing and preparation, to procedure to recovery, dressing and discharge. Radiologists, techs and nursing staff may be working across multiple rooms, with multiple patients often non-ambulatory. The planning of patient flow, staff workflow and appropriate off-stage resources combine to enable patient dignity, staff collaboration and unobstructed throughput. CPL has successfully

ENGINEERING System Solutions for Health and Safety The COVID-19 pandemic has identified several building systems that should be considered for improvements, modifications, or replacement. The first and foremost concentration of review should be the building’s mechanical and electrical systems. These systems provide the infrastructure to sustain your daily operations, and are the principal drivers of both comfort and life safety in the indoor environment. Mechanical and electrical systems are selected based on the building’s intended purpose, with multiple levels of complexity that are determined by codes, standards, and guidelines. Various professional agencies and organizations (CDC, ASHRAE, ASHE, and many others) are

publishing design recommendations and guidelines to mitigate the transmission of the novel coronavirus. The strategies to control the transmission of airborne infectious pathogens can be applied to all levels of system complexity. CPL is staying current with these publications and has been engaged by many clients to provide professional recommendations for short-term building and system improvements, as well as longer term planning and renovation projects. We are committed to working with you through the current challenges as well as the future state in order to achieve your ultimate goal of health and safety.

delivered all types of imaging technology from basic diagnostic units to CT, MRI, Catheterization Labs, Special Procedure Rooms as well as Linear Accelerators. Our goal is to achieve technical precision, clarity of function, ease of maintenance in an environment conducive to patient comfort.
