AlUla’s restaurant scene is growing at pace thanks to the growing demand for dining out by visitors and locals alike. The World’s Masterpiece which aims to attract two million visitors by 2035, has welcomed a growing number of restaurants and hospitality outlets in the last year including 10 new restaurants in the first two months of 2022. From casual to fine-dining and ‘limited time sensory pop-ups’; here are the AlUla 18 new & newly renovated restaurants and cafés you should know about in 2022.

Forces of Nature

With a limited run of only 9 days from February 18 to February 26th, this incredible gastronomic experience draws inspiration from over 200 millennia of human activity in AlUla. Forces of Nature focuses on the elemental beginnings of cooking, using open fires, natural resources, and hyper-local ingredients, with a menu developed by chef Tomos Parry of Michelin-starred Brat in London. Housed within a dramatic setting in the Sha’all canyon, seating is informal and relaxed, with fire pits, lanterns and architectural installations. Perfect for both intimate dinners and larger groups. Incense Road Suppers

Another limited run from March 3 to March 11 and another exciting immersive adventure and full sensory experience taking inspiration from the famed incense road trading route. Using spices, aromas and flavours from ancient times. Combining fine dining and storytelling, guests will travel along the Incense Trade Route with each dish and drink that is served.

MYAZU

Located in the Shaden resort, MYAZU is contemporary culinary art rooted in Japanese culture and blended with the most sophisticated international cuisine influences. The restaurant serves modern dishes with the finest quality ingredients. The restaurant is set atop a modern architecture and offers a luxurious atmosphere. OKTO

The restaurant set atop the beautiful outlook area of Harrat Uwayrid, serving amazing, authentic Greek cuisine at the edge of the Earth. Stunning views and delicious food are perfect for sharing with family and friends. Nestled within this outlook, OKTO is an upscale, authentic Greek restaurant developed by top-rated chef, Ntinos Fotinakis. TAMA AT HABITAS

Tama, meaning ‘here and now’ in Aramaic. Located in the Habitas Eco-Resort, Tama is much more than a restaurant. The restaurant embodies one of Habitas’ core brand experiences, the essence of being present and keeping people in the here and now. The menu infuses Global & Middle Eastern cuisine, using local, fresh ingredients and spices once traded along the incense route, bringing Saudi Arabia’s unique flavors. The ingredients in Tama’s menus are sourced from local farms in communities surrounding AlUla, with seasonal, fresh flavours to the table.

MARAYA SOCIAL

Chef Jason Atherton's newest restaurant awaits your arrival. Enjoy an evening on the rooftop of the World's Largest Mirrored Building. One of Britain's best-loved chefs and owner of multiple Michelinstarred restaurants worldwide, Jason Atherton's newest restaurant Maraya Social is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday; the cuisine takes inspiration from AlUla with produce sourced from local farms, all served up in Atherton's signature style. MOON SHELL

Good vibes and great food make up the perfect hangout spot in AlUla. These organic, playful dishes will have your taste buds begging for more! Moon Shell is a peaceful café that serves delicious smoothie bowls, healthy dishes, fresh juices and the finest coffee. Using rich ingredients to satisfy the senses, Moon Shell makes vegan and vegetarian food accessible and fun. Combining fruits, nuts and natural healthy sugars. The world famous and utterly exclusive Annabel’s returns to AlUla. Featuring their signature series of uniquely themed private dining areas, menu favorites and bespoke mocktails inspired by AlUla are served high-class London style. An intimate setting, the private dining room offers a secluded space, covered by a canopy of tropical foliage, which is available to book for parties of eight to ten guests. Nestled amongst the date palms of Jabal Ikmah, this is a garden oasis inspired by the private members' club in London. Lushly filled with citrus trees, palms and flowers, this hidden gem offers a set menu and cocktails that use locally sourced ingredients, all adding to the to this unique dining experience.

ACME

ACME’s unique burgers and delicious bites bring fun new flavours to AlUla’s Old Town. From refreshing drinks to savoury snacks, an exciting menu awaits kids and adults alike. AMCE’s signature burgers are sure to delight, with a wide range all served on colourful buns. The menu also boasts buffalo shrimp bursting with flavour, and more. Healthy salads, vegan, and vegetarian options are also available. Open for lunch and dinner all week long, AMCE is a perfect spot to grab a bite in Old Town.

CIRCOLO

An authentic Italian restaurant located in the beautiful AlJadidah District, bustling with art and activities. Nestled on the edge of the Oasis, the restaurant enjoys peaceful scenery of the valley with the mountains in the background. Open for lunch and dinner, Circolo serves a delicious menu, from carefully crafted small plates to artisan pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven, and more. Using local ingredients, the menu boasts citrus risotto and fried goat cheese salad with a blood orange dressing. Dine on black pasta lobster, or veal Milanese. The AlUla Oasis Trail is easily accessible from the restaurant.

SALT

SALT is taking its food truck inspired menu off-roading and parking its latest branch in front of AlUla’s iconic Elephant Rock. For Juicy burgers and rich shakes SALT is the place. MERKAZ

Inspired by the timeless traditions and flavours of the Arabian Peninsula, this casual cafe offers traditional cuisine with a relaxing atmosphere. SOMEWHERE

A farm-to-table concept situated in AlUla’s Oasis in the hot new AlJadidah Village (Cultural Oasis District). The farm can host 200 people were families and children can enjoy a day out in the cool shade of the verdant palm trees. SKLT

AlJadidah, Carnivores should head to SKLT where they can embark on a culinary experience exploring high quality cuts of meat, prepared and served on cast iron skillets.
