DAWAH MODULE # 1 Doing Dawah through the Internet A. Aim of the Dawah Mission Al-Quran Mission has a two-foldth aim: 1. To make Islam a discovery for Non-Muslims 2. To make Islam a rediscovery for Muslims and to revive the dawah responsibility in them B. Material of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is an Islamic spiritual scholar who has adopted peace and dawah as the mission of his life. A recent book, The 500 Most Influential Muslims of 2009 by Georgetown University, Washington DC, has named him “Islam’s Spiritual Ambassador to the world.” His approach, the book points out, is “popular among Indians, both Muslim and non-Muslim.” Having made peace and dawah the mission of his life, he presents Islam in the modern idiom through its original sources – Quran and Sunnah. For this mission the first step was to prepare Islamic material that addresses the mind of the modern educated people of today, both Muslims and non-Muslims. Accordingly he translated the Quran and wrote its commentary in Urdu that has been translated in English, Hindi and Arabic (Commentary). He has written thousands of articles and more than 200 books and recorded hundreds of lectures (in Urdu and English) on Islam as presented in the modern, scientific idiom. Many of his lectures are available in DVDs and hundreds have been streamed online. He has been a regular contributor of articles for newspapers, magazines and journals such as Speaking Tree (Times of India), Sunday Guardian and Pioneer since 1960s. To address the Muslim mind he established Al Markazul Islami (Islamic Centre) in 1970 through which he takes out a monthly magazine in Urdu, Al Risala since 1976 (it also comes out in English since the 1980s). To address the minds of the madu he launched Centre International (Centre for Peace and Spirituality) in 2001. Through these two institutions he has reengineered the minds of thousands of individuals based on the teachings of Islam.
