Graduation ceremonies are the highlight of our academic year because they are an opportunity to celebrate your years of hard work. You have made a success of your time at CPUT and now you are an inspiration to others who may consider a university education because they saw you succeed.
Your CPUT family is very proud of you. For many, the road to this point has been challenging, and it will have taken immense grit to not only finish your course, but excel. You represent the cream of the crop, and especially as we approach the national elections, I remind you that South Africa’s fate hinges on you realising your full potential. Dream big and do something worthwhile with your precious qualification. Your community and South Africa needs you now more than ever.

BOODSKAP VAN DIE VISEKANSELIER
Beste Graduandi
needs your continued contribution, whether it be through a formal structure like Convocation, or simply staying connected to the Institution. This will ensure that we remain a university of repute that you are proud to be associated with.
Finally, I would like to thank the university staff, your parents, guardians, family members, spouses, friends, donors, and all stakeholders who have contributed to your success. This has truly been a collaborative effort, and their contribution is celebrated as well.

TITLE: IMAGE INTERPRETATION SYSTEMS FOR DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHERS
The growing demand for medical imaging has exposed the critical shortage of radiologists, particularly in under-resourced regions like Namibia. The outcome is a high number of unreported plain radiographs and delayed interpretations, impacting patient care and management. The complex imaging system was studied and radiographers’ ability to accurately detect abnormalities in plain radiographs was demonstrated. This has potential as a solution to the shortage of radiologists. Originality lies in the proposed modified image interpretation system, which utilises radiographer expertise collaboratively to ensure timely interpretation of most radiographs. The proposed system holds potential to improve patient care by facilitating informed decisions by referring clinicians.

TITLE: BIOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND MICRO-RNA PROFILING IN A HIGH GLUCOSE IN VITRO MODEL WITH RESVERATROL INTERVENTION
This study investigated the therapeutic effects of resveratrol on oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, and glucose metabolism under high glucose-induced conditions using an in vitro liver model. This study not only unveiled resveratrol’s therapeutic potential, but also underscored the importance of alternative strategies in combating diabetes and associated complications. The novelty of the study is the inclusion of epigenetic factors by quantification of microRNAs linked to T2DM pathogenesis in HepG2 cells. The findings elucidated the dysregulation of microRNAs in response to high glucose exposure and resveratrol treatment, uncovering a novel insight into the molecular mechanism underlying diabetes pathophysiology. To date, this work resulted in two peer-reviewed articles and an oral presentation at an international conference.
