$650m Jobs Fund opportunity to be explained at Cradle Coast Authority forum Taking the regional lead on the recently announced $650m Australian Government Jobs Fund, the Cradle Coast Authority will host a community information session this Thursday morning in Ulverstone. “Northern Tasmania is one of seven areas identified by the Australian government that will have priority access to this fund and the Authority wants to be sure that this community understands the opportunities it can bring to the region if used wisely,” Mr Jaensch said. “For this reason we are encouraging community groups to come along to the information session, along with state government and business representatives,” he said. The information session will involve representatives from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations who will provide a Jobs Fund overview, particularly in relation to the role of the Local Employment Coordinator, to be established in the region. The Jobs Fund has three components: • $300m Local Jobs stream to support community infrastructure projects with a focus on the promotion of environment-friendly technology and heritage; •
$200m Get Communities Working stream for self-sustaining projects which create jobs and provide activities and services to improve community amenity;
•
$150m Infrastructure Employment Projects stream for investment in infrastructure projects which generate jobs in regions affected by the economic downturn.
