Irish Patchwork Society Report Since the last Crafts Council of Ireland A.G.M in October 99 we had a really busy year. Our National Biennial exhibition 'Memories of the Century' travelled to Galway, Ballina, Ballyjanersduff, Dundalk, Cork and Dublin. Some of our members sent quilts for exhibition to England, Europe and the USA and individual branches had their own exhibitions. We invited Vivien Prideau from Cornwall, England and another textile artist to speak to us after our A.G.M. and to give a workshop. We had a stand at the Knitting and Stitching show. A great weekend was had up in An Grianan with

Another exhibition,'Hands across the Border', is being organised with the Northern Irish Patchwork group during October. All in all, a busy year behind us and even busier still ahead. The I.P.S. would like to thank the Crafts Council of Ireland for grant aiding this year. .„ ~,D ... 1 Mary OReilly

Jewellery Design and Production Skills Course New Funding Leslie Reed (CEO) and Jane Huston (Trainer) would like to thank all who were kind enough to write letters of support for the full time Jewellery Skills course. For a period the Council was very uncertain where ongoing funding would be found for the course but we are now delighted to announce that we have received new state funding via Enterprise Ireland to support the training. Your letters of support were important as a way of showing that what we are doing is appreciated and valued by the trade. We try very hard to make the course as well matched as possible to the actual needs of the future employers of the trainees. Once again we are delighted that all the trainees from the last group of graduates are in full time employment in the trade.
