Grade 6 Camp 2011 ! Information Evening
What is the purpose of our camp? The purpose of Grade 6 Camp 2011 is: To build strong and las;ng bonds between students and teachers, in order to foster important trus;ng rela;onships for the school year ahead, To develop a commiAed team spirit amongst students, To give each student an opportunity to demonstrate an aspect of leadership through the various planned ac;vi;es,
Etihad Stadium & MSAC!
☞ We will be leaving school at 9am en route to E;had Stadium, ☞ We will tour the Stadium – go into the rooms, the corporate boxes, coaches boxes and onto the ground. We will also meet a leader from AFL House and the students will have an opportunity to ask ques;ons.
Etihad Stadium Docklands!
☞ We will then travel to Melbourne Sports and Aqua;c Centre (MSAC) and spend 3 hours engaging in fun and ac;vi;es in the pool,
☞ We will leave MSAC at approximately 4:30pm aTer
showering, and travel back to school by bus for a BBQ and salad dinner – Halal barbeque sausages will be provided,
☞ ATer dinner, the children will par;cipate in a Trivia Night and enjoy an evening snack, ☞ Boys and girls will then move off to either the old or new gym for the night.
Team Building & Leadership Skills! ☞ The children will spend a full day par;cipa;ng in team building and leadership ac;vi;es led by a fully qualified Personal/Group Trainer on school grounds. ☞ The children will return home for the night on this day, and will be dismissed at the normal 3:15 bell ;me.
Urban Camp, Urban Quest, Lygon Street ! ☞ Students will return to school Thursday morning for a 9am departure by bus to Urban Camp – located near the Melbourne Zoo.

Urban Camp, Urban Quest, Lygon Street ! ☞ Students will seAle in at Urban Camp before beginning our Urban Quest, which entails visi;ng significant historical sites around the City of Melbourne. ☞ Parliament House, The Electoral Commission, Old Melbourne Gaol, China Town, Shrine of Remembrance, Captain Cook’s CoAage and Federa;on Square. ☞ This ac;vity will involve map reading, reading ;me tables, working as cohesive teams and coopera;on.

Urban Camp & Lygon Street! ☞ On comple;ng the Urban Quest, students return to Urban Camp to get ready for our dinner ou;ng in Lygon Street,
☞ We will walk to Lygon Street and enjoy an Italian meal, then walk back to camp via the Netball Stadium, have a quick snack and go to bed.
Queen Victoria Market! ☞ Students depart from Urban Camp aTer breakfast, and head into the Queen Victoria Market.
Queen Victoria Market & Home ! ☞ At the Queen Victoria Market, children will
experience independence in purchasing items, sampling deli meats and fruits, and spending their pocket money. ☞ Students will have lunch, and return to school by bus for a regular 3:15 pick up.
What the students need for camp MSAC – bathers, towel, change of underwear, shampoo and
condi;oner, soap, brush/comb, hair ;es etc…
Night at school – sleeping bag, sheet, light blanket, pillow,
pyjama’s, clean underwear, a change of clothing, soap and towel, tooth brush, tooth paste, hair brush and other necessary toiletries, sunscreen, plas;c bowl, cup and spoon. All items are to be clearly named.
What the students need for camp
Students will need a normal packed lunch and snacks on the Wednesday for their day of team building and leadership ac;vi;es. Students will need to bring a drink boAle on this day, and apply sunscreen before coming to school. It would also be advisable for them to bring their own sunscreen for use throughout the day also.
Night at Urban Camp – same as above, including socks and comfortable walking shoes, no more than $10 spending money for the Victoria Market, disposable camera or own digital camera (all responsibility for digital camera’s remain with the students).
