Explore Lectures

As you are aware, we are celebrating the value of Intellect this year. When we speak of ‘Intellect’, we strive to explore different spheres and topics beyond the curriculum – and just for the sheer joy of it.

Under this guise, we have organised a fabulous series of lectures on a vast and diverse range of topics to run throughout the rest of the academic year. Our eminent and exciting speakers will aim to stimulate curiosity and encourage us all (parents, friends, family and staff) to explore something new.

The lectures will take place on Monday or Tuesday evenings, starting in January. They will be held in the Sixth Form Lecture Theatre and are open to all, free of charge. Nibbles and drinks will be served from 5:30pm for a 6pm start and a 7pm finish.

This Week

The second of our Lenten themes is Fast. Most of us are familiar with the idea of ‘giving something up for Lent.’ Giving up chocolate, sweets and other treats is a good start. But Lent isn’t meant to be some type of ecclesiastical health campaign. Instead, we are asked to look carefully at our lives, to reflect on the bad habits that we have fallen into and then, most importantly, to stop or ‘fast’ from doing those things. Once again, Pope Francis gives us a great example of what this looks like in practice. He has listed (below) some suggestions. Why not spend some time examining you conscience and consider which of those bad habits in the list, or habits that are similar, you have fallen into, and then, in this second week of Advent, commit to fasting from that habit for the remainder of Lent. Giving up sweets and chocolate will help our self-discipline, but fasting from these bad habits will help us become good! And that’s what Lent is really all about!!

We hope that you are all well, but please remember to pack enough layers for riding.

The weather has been so different in just a week! First snow and then rain! The staff and the ponies have been wrapping up warm and hugging the heaters. Hopefully the forecast will be better next week.

We will start to plan the timetable for next term, so if you no longer with to ride then please email us to let us know.

Easter Holiday Activities

We still have availability for Easter!

Have a look on our online site to book your spaces now!

A few of the horses had physio and chiropractor treatments this week. This is a good way to make sure that the horses are comfortable and happy, they also love it!

The saddler also came out to see Mouse and Barney so that they will be happy in their lessons.

Beware! The electric fence is back on in the fields. Make sure you don’t touch it!

The horse of the week is Sidan!

Good luck for your next competition!
