Issue 7
Autumn Term
10th November 2023
Message from Mrs Conrad This month we have been remembering all those we love who have died. Today at 11am, we remembered all those who have died and given their lives in times of war and conflict. Eternal rest give unto them O Lord. May they rest in peace. Yesterday, 5KH delivered an informative and emotive assembly on the theme of Remembrance. The girls explained how Remembrance Day started and why it is still recognised today, as well as performing songs and poetry readings.
Happy Diwali! May I also take the opportunity to wish all our Hindu families a very happy Diwali! I hope you enjoy your celebrations this weekend.

Year 4—Art Club Year 3 Art Club painted these stunning poppies in commemoration of those who gave up their lives for us.
Year 4—Science In Science, Year 4 have begun to learn about the digestive system. This week, we have started to learn about teeth. First, we used a mirror to examine our own mouths. After exploring the different types of teeth, we then used marshmallows to make models, shaping the teeth to show the differences between incisors, canines, premolars and molars. We all marvelled at our new 'grins' and were very careful to stop all our teeth from falling out!
Year 4—Robots Year 4 have been getting to grips with programming the school robots. They had great fun experimenting with different routes and the extra 'tools' including the light and music features!
Sports News Hockey U10A—The U10A side competed against a well-equipped CLFS team. The girls started out well putting on a solid defensive display, with a special mention going to Penny who stepped forward when asked to play goalkeeper for the first time. Despite the great team spirit and commitment to never give up, the girls didn’t get a win this time. U10B—The U10Bs had a hugely competitive match. They started well, scoring an early goal, making it 1-0 going into the second half. Both teams pushed hard and in the last 3 minutes CLFS managed to get an equaliser. The game was end to end with some terrific last ditch defending, but on the last play we just couldn't hold on any longer and CLFS scored the winner. Eliza was awarded player of the match, so a huge well done to her. U10C—The U10C side had their second game of the year against CLFS school. The girls showed great team spirit and real determination, battling for every ball to put the opposition under pressure. Sophie B finished off a well worked move, to score a great goal, but unfortunately, the C team suffered a defeat. Sophie’s high work rate and courage earnt her a well deserved Player of the Match award. U10D—The U10 D match was an end to end exciting one. St Teresa's scored in the first 30 seconds and CLFS immediately responded to make it 1-1, and then another . This was the score going into the second half and sadly we couldn't quite secure a win.
Skiing Good luck to Apollonia taking part in the Surrey Schools Skiing Competition on Sunday! We are looking forward to hearing about how you got on.
Reminder about earrings in PE & Games The girls are not allowed to wear earrings or any jewellery in PE, Games or Swimming and taping is not permitted. Please may we encourage you to arrange ear piercing over the summer holidays, to give them enough time to heal.

This Week
As a whole school community we joined together with all people of goodwill to remember those who have died in the horror of war. In particular, at 11 am, we observed Two Minutes Silence in anticipation of the national event tomorrow. We remembered those who bravely gave their lives in the pursuit of peace and the freedom that we so often take for granted, and our minds were drawn to all those innocent, non-combatant victims of war, particularly children, who continue to suffer and die in those conflicts that scar our world today.
Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world celebrate the feast of Diwali this week. We wish them a very happy Diwali, and we pray that the world will be inspired by this great celebrations that recalls the victory of light over darkness.
During this month of November when we remember our loved ones who have died you are invited to join us for a

We hope that you have had a good half term. Some of you may remember Olly and Tango who were a part of the riding school a few years ago. They will be coming back for a short-term basis and will be living out in one of the fields. We will have to ask that no one says hello to them when they do arrive so that they can get settled in. The staff are looking forward to seeing them again! As the weather has been very unpredictable in recent weeks, please can you make sure your child comes dressed appropriately to their lessons. Please pack a jumper and waterproof coat. Hoodies should not be worn, and if they are we will ask to tuck the hoods in before being around the horses. We are aware of some school trips and sporting events over the next week or so. If your child cannot attend one of their lessons, then please let the office know by phone or by email, or the lesson can be cancelled on the booking site. As if you wish to cancel a lesson, we do require 48hrs notice or more in order to offer credit.
Topic of the week: Hydrotherapy Horse hydrotherapy is a type of therapy for horses that is used for a variety of reasons. There are four types of hydrotherapy: water treadmill, swimming, horse spa and cold hosing. These all help with bringing horses back to work, horse rehabilitation, stopping fluid building up and keeping them fit and healthy! ~ Libby C
