Year 5 Art
Year 5 have nearly finished their "Take a Seat" project in art, these are just a few of the finished ones and a taster for next week's finale! Their task was to create a chair which reflected their personality, we hope you can see in each of these examples. The girls initially considered what kind of thrones the Tudors may have sat on, and then drew inspiration from a contemporary artist, Yinka Llora. Some designs include a small seat for a pet, a table for a drink or colours which represent their emotions. We will include a gallery of more chairs in next week's bulletin.
Year 3 Art
Year 3 exploded a colour wheel in their art lessons, and used only the primary colours to match all shades. They had to try and use just enough paint so it was thick and smooth, and to make sure their brushstrokes were in the same direction, to try and make it "flat". They concentrated brilliantly, and their sketchbooks are now full of colour.

This Week
This week we considered the third account from Mark’s Gospel where Jesus reaches out and draws in those on the margins. On this occasion we looked at the healing of Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-520.
It is always significant when we hear the name of an individual in the Gospels. The name Bartimaeus means ‘Son of the Unclean.’ Clearly this was a term of abuse hurled at the poor man in the account, his blindness being seen as some sort of punishment for his sins or the sins of past generations. Jesus rejects this totally. Instead, as Bartimaeus calls out to him, Jesus removes his blindness.
Blindness, in the Holy Scriptures, is always more than a physical ailment. It refers to that inability, spiritually, to see what is all around us. In this season of Lent, we are called to remove that blindness in two ways. Firstly, we are called to recognise the needs of those around us, needs that so often we don’t even notice. We, like Jesus, by recognising those needs can also bring restoration to wholeness to those we see. Secondly, we are called to see ourselves with clear sight. Yes, on the one hand, to recognise where we fall short and need to change, but even more importantly, to recognise that God has made us good. We are wonderfully made! We are God’s work of art! While we may fall short, we need to be reminded that this is how God sees us, this is the fullness of life, the wholeness that God calls us to rediscover. Lent is a great time to remove the blindness from our eyes and to see things as they really are once again.
our school community and country a Blessed month of Ramadan.
U8 Netball Tournament
Huge congratulations to the Year 3 Netball team who took part in a netball tournament on Saturday at St George’s. They showed great teamwork and determination during every match. It was great to see all they have learnt throughout the year being put into place. They won 4 games, lost 1 game and drew one. This meant they received 3rd place and got a bronze medal!! Special mention to Arabella, Monica, Millie, Isabelle and Olivia.
U8 Netball
Well done to the Year 3 A-D netball teams who travelled to compete against Notre Dame. The girls demonstrated fantastic passing and communication, showing how they have improved their skills this academic year. Congratulations to Olivia, Kitty, Ivy and Scarlett who were awarded a well earned player of the match!
U9 Netball
On Friday the Year 4 girls played against Notre Dame school. The girls had a great afternoon where they were able to implement their skills developed during their lessons into game play.
The final scores were: Wins for 4 out of 5 teams. Well done to all the girls who participated in the matches and a special mention to Sophia, Sienna, Mary, Gemma and Sophia B who were all nominated as player of the match.
U10 Netball
On Tuesday 12th March the U10 netball teams travelled to St Catherine’s. All the girls played well playing against higher teams. Unfortunately St Catherine’s had some strong shooters and we were unable to seize a victory. Congratulations to the players of the match: Penny, Eliza, Apollonia, Eleanor and Amelie
It’s a Fish Out Lifesaving Competition!
On Saturday 9th March the U10 and U11 competed in the annual ‘It’s a Fish Out’ Lifesaving competition at Dorking Leisure Centre. The competition consisted of twenty-four 3-minute rounds with a total of 7 events to score points which were tallied up at the end. After winning last year we were determined to regain the trophy whilst having fun!
Despite being the youngest team in the competition, the U10’s battled hard and worked as a unit to consistently score good points in many events. The final 3 rounds the U10’s had to endure were considered the most challenging, and despite feeling exhausted, the girls never stopped giving their all and worked so well as a team. We set ourselves a goal at the beginning to get in the top 10, not an easy feat. As they results were read out, we were not expecting any trophy but suddenly St Teresa’s came over the microphone, the U10’s had won the most improved school at the competition placing 10th out of 24 schools. Well done, girls!
The U11’s started the competition well by gaining a good score in the question station. However, nerves were high for the following events. After the wobbles, the girls were reminded of how hard they had worked to get to this competition and if they wanted a top 3 position, they needed to dig deep and fight. For the next 4 events the girls showed courage and resilience to reset and come back stronger. They couldn’t quite make the top 3 but came a fantastic 4th out of 24 schools overall. A big thank you to all the coaches involved in organising and training the girls and a special mention to Klara J (Year 10) who, for the 2nd year in a row, helped coach specific skills for the event. What a great role model!

Horse Breeds: Dutch Warmbloods
There are over 400 horse breeds in the world, one of them is the Dutch Warmblood. The Dutch warmblood breed has been around for almost a century, and are typically used for showjumping and dressage, but they learn quickly so can be used for most disciplines.
They can vary in temperament, but are known to be sharp and a bit challenging. And the long-standing bloodlines of the breed can make them expensive to purchase. Therefore not all Dutch Warmbloods are suitable for a first horse
