Message from Mrs Conrad

As we break up for the Christmas holidays, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very blessed and holy Christmas. It has been a real joy catching up with you over recent weeks at ‘Holy Boy’, the Christmas concert or the Santa Dash. I hope that you all enjoy catching up with your families and friends over the holiday and sharing the love that the Christ Child brings. As Saint Mother Teresa once said, “It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you.”

THANKYOU FOST!

We want to say a huge thank you to FOST for everything they have done for the girls this week to help make the run up to Christmas so special. They provided a prize and a Santa hat for every girl for the Santa Dash. They organised our Father Christmas visit and they paid for the Pantomime to come to school today! What a wonderful end to the term! Thank you all for everything that you do and for all the time that you give to the school.

During Computing in Year 3 this half term, the girls have been creating a PowerPoint about their trip to Butser Farm. They created a page for each activity at Butser, including artefact handling, fence wattling, an archaeological dig and copper jewelry making. On each page the girls added a title, some text and added pictures from either the Butser Farm website or photographs from our trip stored on the school One Drive. To ensure each page looked professional, the girls used the ‘Designer’ function on PowerPoint and chose the design they preferred. At the end, some of the girls added a link to Butser Farm as well. Well done girls, some super

Year 5—Stained Glass Windows

After comparing the Gospel stories of the Nativity from Matthew and Luke, the girls reflected upon the story and which people, animals and places were mentioned. The girls created silhouettes within a stained-glass window to represent parts of the Nativity story.

Year 4—Saxon Broaches

The Year 4s used all of their DT skills this week to create their very own Saxon Brooches. The girls designed a brooch based on who would be wearing it and the appropriate patterns for that person. This would largely be based on occupation, class, gender, and wealth. There were a vast array of patterns carefully embossed into their brooches, finished off with gems of various colours, shapes, and sizes. They looked fantastic!

Year 5—English

Year 5 have been studying free verse poetry in English. After reading several examples, the girls wrote descriptive lines in pairs before combining them altogether in a class poem on the theme of 'Space'.

We hope that you have an amazing end to the term and are looking forward to the Christmas Holidays!

We’d like to wish Inde W the best of luck as she is riding at the London International Horse Show at London Excel over the next week and is sponsored by St Teresa’s School! If you are attending the event, do keep an eye out for her at the Shetland Grand National, she will be in the red colours with a white star.

If we will not be seeing you over the holidays, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and will see you in 2023 for the Spring Term!

I’m sure that you noticed it snowed this week! Temperatures went down to -4 degrees and it got a bit chilly, but the ponies have been wrapped up in their rugs to help keep them warm. Unfortunately, the weather meant that the lessons at STE were cancelled and the NSEA competition last weekend was also cancelled.

The equestrian team have been getting ready for Christmas by decorating their office, and it looks really nice!

Merry Christmas!

~ Libby C

NSEA News

The last NSEA competition was unfortunately cancelled due to the weather, but we wish the riders the best of luck in any competitions they are attending over the Christmas.

And the biggest well done for all of their success this year!
