25th January 2021
Message from Mrs Conrad And so, another action packed week has passed with the St Teresa’s girls thriving in their online lessons – enthusiastically taking part in a breadth of exciting projects and activities devised by our creative teaching team! I hope you, like me, enjoy seeing the evidence of this in our weekly bulletins. And it has been a momentous week on the global stage with the inauguration of Jo Biden on Wednesday. One of the highlights for me was Amanda Gorman, only 22 years of age, making history as the youngest inaugural poet to ever perform at a U.S. president’s swearing-in ceremony. What an inspirational role model for our girls, proving that we can all achieve our dreams if we put our mind to it. During this gloomy time of rising death rates and uncertainty (not helped by the miserable weather and storm Christoph !), I think Amanda’s closing words rally our spirits and remind us of the better times to come: The new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it If only we’re brave enough to be it.
This week you should have received: Years 1 to 3

Years 1 to 6
One to one pastoral chats letter

Good News!
A Day ‘Out’ at the Fair As we can't go to visit a fair at the moment, why not follow the example of Iola and Maggie and their family? Last weekend they turned their house into a fantastic fair with disco lights and activities such as a messy bedroom treasure hunt, apple bobbing and a litter tray challenge. It looked like so much fun!

Year 1—French Maggie showed such imagination when she was asked to label a rainbow in French. Here she is with her chalk rainbow.
Year 4 In Year 4 we have been enjoying our new topic on Community. This week we thought about all the skills needed to be a leader of a community. We thought about all the people that help us in our community at school and in a local church community. We created an advert for a Parish Priest using all our ideas!
Great Work! Year 3—Science Year 3 continued their topic in science to explore a healthy diet and were asked to design a balanced meal for a Mr Men character and to explain why they chose the items for their plate. They also created a poster to persuade each other to drink more water.
Year 5—Tudors Year 5 have been learning all about Tudor London, Henry VIII and his six wives. In groups, they researched one of his wives and presented the information to the rest of the class in a variety of ways from PowerPoints to Hot Seating Interviews. The girls have also learnt about what kind of person Henry VIII was and they wrote a letter in character to Pope Clement VII asking for a divorce from Catherine of Aragon. This led into our RE work thinking about Christian Unity, the girls created a cross collage and wrote a prayer.
Great Work! Ice Fossils In Art, the girls have been choosing and freezing different natural items to create these beautiful winter treasures.
Year 1—Little Red Riding Hood In Year 1 recently, we have done lots of work centered around Little Red Riding Hood. This week, the girls had the chance to make fingers puppets and retell the story! This Week In our Chapel Service this week we reflected on the Gospel account of how Andrew was called and how he, in turn, brought his brother Simon to Jesus (John 1:35-42). The account begins with the great declaration of faith by John the Baptist, ‘Behold the Lamb of God!” Andrew is curious and asks Jesus where he lives, and Jesus invites them to ‘Come and see.’ Andrew becomes a follower and then tells his brother Simon all about Jesus. Simon finally meets Jesus and Jesus renames Simon Cephas or Peter, which mans ‘The Rock’ preparing Peter to become the leader of the apostles and the first Pope. In this reading we saw the way that each person shared their joy of knowing Jesus with the next. And each time they did it, the joy was multiplied. In our lives we are also asked to share the Good News about Jesus with those we love. People have been doing this for over 2000 years and that chain is not only unbroken, but has increased until now almost a third of the population of the world declare, just like Andrew did ‘We have found the Messiah—the Christ!’ Let us, in our lives, share the love and joy of knowing Jesus with all those that we meet so that they too can ‘Come and see’ where Jesus lives in our world today.

Hi Everyone. I hope you didn’t get too wet in the storm this weekend, luckily we had our lovely big rugs on and plenty of hay to keep us warm! I was allowed to make friends with the new horse yesterday, Sky. The tall, blonde human said I had to behave myself and not annoy her, but she started it! In the end, after a few ‘hello’ squeals we are now friends. The humans say I’m not allowed to go out in the field with her as they say I’m annoying and Sky might tell me off, so back to the field with Ellie I go. Have a nice weekend! Tango x
