Spring Term

Message from Mrs Conrad

Today has been a very special day in the Prep School. Firstly, we had a beautiful Easter assembly led by our chaplaincy team who re-enacted the Easter story in a very powerful and moving way. This was further enhanced by the visit of our neighbour’s donkeys, Gizmo and Noodle, who led our palm procession. Thank you to Deacon Simon and the chaplaincy prefects for reminding us of the Easter story in such a poignant way.

We then had a second assembly, which we deliberately gave a party feel! Firstly, we celebrated pupil achievements and Miss Roberts’ forthcoming wedding.

We then thanked Mrs Canning for all her wisdom and kindness as a member of the Senior Leadership Team as she steps down from her leadership role and thanked Mrs Haymes for all she has done, not just as a fabulous Teaching Assistant but also as our Forest School Lead.

Mrs New was given a humorous send off with our take of the Dr Seuss’ poem, “Oh the Places You’ll Go!” :

You have brains in your head

You have feet in your shoes

We love all your lessons

Whatever you choose.

You’re one in a million. And you know what we know?

That YOU are the teacher we’re sad to see go.

Message from Mrs Conrad Continued …..

And finally a big thank you to Mrs Irons for all that she has done for the school. Drawing together her love of 80s music, Take That and Taylor Swift, we made her do a Mastermind Round on these topics for which she scored top marks! We then welcomed ‘Taylor Swift’ online to give Mrs Irons a personal thank you message before introducing our school version of the favourite Taylor Swift song, “Shake it Off” complete with dance moves:

Coz Mrs Irons is so cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool

She’s the coolest one in school, school, school, school, school, school

So St T’s is gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake

Shake it off, shake it off

Mrs Irons always knows just what to say

And her teaching is unique in every way

So St T’s is gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake

Shake it off, shake it off.

Wishing the whole Prep School community a very happy and holy Easter!

Orphanage donations made it to Ecuador!

Monica and her family sent clothes, shoes and toys to an orphanage in Ecuador in January.

Finally delivered to the orphanage, run by an American couple funded by European and American donors, as you can see the girls were thrilled with their new wardrobe.

Monica’s daughters were delighted to see clothes and shoes they had loved, being gratefully received by other little girls living in very different circumstances.

The colours, textures, shape and size were all important in deciding how to reflect their personalities and each chair is absolutely unique.

This Week

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.

Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other,“Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said.“You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter,‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’’

We wish everyone a happy and holy Easter! He is risen!

Out of 14 schools in the open age group category, St Teresa’s came 4th in both the 4x50 medley and Free relay missing out on 3rd place by milliseconds. There is now another nervous wait to see if the girls can qualify for the ESSA relays in May. Well done to the following swimmers: Olivia P, Matilda R, Stef V E and Lottie C.

Horse Breeds: Thoroughbreds

Thoroughbreds were first bred in England in the 17th– and 18thcentury and is now a well-recognised breed across the world. They were primarily bred and used for racing due to their agility and speed, as they can go exceptionally fast of up to speeds of 44mph! They tend to race when they are younger, and some retire early or are sold on after their racing years. However, Thoroughbreds are also known to do well in other disciplines as well.

Buying or rehoming an ex-racing horse can be hard work due to their nature and physique, but can also be very rewarding.
