Message from Mrs Conrad
Today we celebrated the Feast of St Thérèse of Lisieux (the saint our school is named after) and so I would like to wish you all a very happy Feast Day!
To celebrate this wonderful occasion, the whole school community began the morning with a lovely mass in the Mairlot Hall. Our Head Girl, Lainey, read St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians 13:4-7 on the theme of love, beautifully; and the Chamber Choir and assembly band lifted our spirits with their superb music making. Huge thanks must go to Mrs Harris, Deacon Simon and Fr Stephen for preparing the girls and making our service so special.
For the rest of the day, there have been many different treats including cakes at break time and the most amazing art workshops with Mrs Halliwell based on St Thérèse’s quote, “If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, Spring would lose its loveliness”. Expect to see an incredible art installation of flowers emerge in the foyer over the forthcoming weeks as we celebrate both our inspirational patron saint and the beauty of diversity.

Year 4—Sealife Trip
Year 4 dived into the underwater haven of Sea Life in Brighton this week. We learnt more about the layers of our oceans and the creatures that live within each of these - from how long turtles can hold their breath, to the unusual features of the creatures that live in the harshest conditions of the Abyss. The girls also had the opportunity to touch starfish in the rockpools, jump waves on the interactive display and walk through the underwater tunnel, appreciating the creatures and coral from all angles. We ended our day with a play on the beach, where the girls discovered some interesting shells and created their own unique pebble art installations. It was a fantastic day out!
Feast Day
We celebrated our Feast Day today with a Whole School Mass, a special art workshop for all the girls with Mrs Halliwell and delicious cake at break time.
Year 3—Art
In art this week, Year 3 experienced how it may have felt to be a Stone Age artist and create their own piece of cave painting. They experimented with making colours using a range of natural materials and then this was applied to their cave wall (paper stained with tea leaves from a previous lesson!) to create a painting of an animal. Hollie said, "It was very fun, but a bit tricky because it was hard to match the colours. I found beetroot, chalk and lemon worked best."
Year 3—Stone Age Day
Year 3 were transported to the stone age in a partnership activity with Cranmore. We got to experience how people lived 2.6 million years ago, with a series of demonstrations. This included starting a fire and cooking a freshly caught fish, which the children were very enthusiastic to try. It was incredibly exciting and a great start to their new topic.
The children also enjoyed a stone aged themed session in Forest School.

Netball
On Tuesday, the U10A&B team played against Sutton. The A team were fast and dynamic on court and worked well together as a team. The final score was 5-3 to St Teresa’s. Well done to Eliza who was awarded player of the match. The U10B team started the first quarter with high energy and passion. In the second quarter the girls listened and implemented the feedback received during their team talk, which rewarded them with multiple goals. The girls continued to work hard to move the ball down the court, using their accurate and powerful passes. The team worked exceptionally hard and they should be proud of their efforts. Apollonia’s accurate intercepting and defending throughout the game meant Sutton named her player of the match.
Good luck to the U11A&B netball team who are playing on Friday after school.

Olivia H (Year 3) was recently awarded a distinction in her ballet exam. Brilliant work Olivia! Apollonia C-D (Year 5) not only won gold at the final race of the SnowSport South race series at Welwyn, but also won overall gold for the U10 girls SnowSport South Series. Amazing effort Apollonia!
Matilda R (Year 6) completed in her first swimming Club Championship meeting for Leatherhead Swimming Club. She participated in 3 races butterfly and 100 freestyle and came 2nd, 2nd and 1st. Fantastic Swimming Matilda.

They also play football for the Oxshott royals U8's and won 7.2 this weekend against their local team their third win of the season! Well done girls!

This Week
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of St Thérèse of Lisieux - our school patron., so we gathered together as a whole school - Prep and Senior combined - for our Feast Day Mass. As we entered the hall in procession, the youngest (Year 3) and oldest (Sixth Form) students in the school once again recreated the school’s mosaic image of St Thérèse. At the beginning of our celebration, Year 7 gave us an overview of the life of St Thérèse, recognising that she is one of the very first saints whose life was documented in the new technology of photography. Throughout our celebration we recalled ‘The Little Way’ of St Thérèse, as she reminds us to recognise and then act upon the demands of love that present themselves to us throughout the day - not great acts, but small, seemingly insignificant sacrifices, kindness and gestures that, in time, mould us to become the person God has created us to be. This can be summarised in the beautiful phrase,‘Do small things with great love.’ It was a wonderful celebration and we are particularly grateful to Fr Stephen, a great friend to the school, for leading our liturgy. Together we pray:
St Thérèse, pray for us!

We hope that you have had a good week.
Mr T has settled in well, but do be aware he can be a bit nibbly if you want to say hello! Cookie arrived safely on Monday and has been snoozing down in the bottom stables with King keeping her company. She is very sweet and friendly, and will be moved up to the barn in the next week.
As the weather has been very unpredictable in recent weeks, please can you make sure your child comes dressed appropriately to their lessons. Please pack a jumper and waterproof coat. Hoodies should not be worn, and if they are we will ask to tuck the hoods in before being around the horses.
And If your child cannot attend one of their lessons, then please let the office know by phone or by email, or the lesson can be cancelled on the booking site. As if you wish to cancel a lesson, we do require 48hrs notice or more in order to offer credit.
Topic of the week: the Dentist
It is very important for a horse to have healthy teeth. Horses over the age of 5 should be checked by the dentist at least once a year, and if your horse is under 5 they should be checked every 4 or 5 months. A few signs that your horse needs the dentist are head tossing, weight loss, spilling food, drooling and spooking.
DID YOU KNOW?
You can tell the age of your horse by looking at their teeth!
~ Libby C
We wish the team and individuals the best of luck at their next competition!
