Spring Term

1st April 2022

Message from Mrs Conrad This week brings us to the end of the Spring Term and what a wonderful week it has been! On Wednesday morning, the Year 2 and 3 girls treated their parents to an Easter Brunch - a celebration of new life through songs and poems. The girls performed superbly and the audience certainly left with a spring in their step! On Thursday evening, the girls in Years 4, 5 and 6 performed in the annual Easter Concert, delighting us with a variety of songs both amusing and moving. There were also performances from the Chamber Choir, the Young Voices Choir, the Orchestra, the Wind Band and the String Ensembles, all of which were outstanding polished performances and a fitting celebration of the musical life of the school. Today, we gathered together as a school family for our Lenten Service to remind ourselves of the real meaning of Easter. Two special visitors (Noodles and Gizmo!) helped us re-enact Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and led us in a procession from the Henderson Hall to the Chapel where we remembered the events of Holy Week and Easter through scripture, reflection and song. May I take this opportunity to wish all a very happy and holy Easter.

Eco Tip of the Week A really simple and fun way to jazz up the garden is to make plant pots with your old wellies. Not only do they look unique, but they will add some colour. Here is how to make your own: Give the wellies a quick wash using warm soapy water. Drill a few small holes in the sole of the boot (ask an adult to help). This will allow any water to drain out of them. Fill the bottom of the boot with some pebbles. This will help to drain the water and act as a weight in case of blustery weather. Add in some compost, making sure it reaches all the way to the bottom. Leave about a 2” gap at the top, this is where the seeds/flowers will go. Now you are ready to plant your seeds or plants. Once planted, fill the rest of the welly boot with compost and water.
