Spring Term
18th March 2022
Message from Mrs Conrad “Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is”. I think this quote sums up the spirit of positivity and joy that has filled the school over the last few days! How blessed the girls are to study and learn in such a beautiful setting which looks even more glorious bathed in the Spring sunshine with daffodils and blossom around every corner. The girls have been excelling themselves in recent swimming galas and sporting fixtures, the music department is excitedly preparing for the Spring Concert and the Easter Brunch, and the highlight of the week must surely be today’s business fair: Year 6 demonstrated their entrepreneurial skills, coming up with fantastic business plans for a range of exciting products. With the teams’ creative branding and clever financial planning, I can definitely see some St Teresa girls becoming the Karren Bradys and Deborah Meadons of the future! Watch this space!

Eco & Gardening Club During a rather wet afternoon, the girls in Eco and Gardening Club prepared the raised beds for some new plants. They weeded using all the metal implements we have at school including forks, spades, rakes and trowels. They put the weeds in the compost bin and tried to avoid pulling up the bulbs that are germinating there. Afterwards, the girls placed the plants in the raised beds ready for next week. We will be planting two types of hebes, rhododendrons and three types of herbs. These plants were chosen because they are bird and bee friendly. The girls also collected all the plastic pots and Mrs Cooper will take them to a garden centre to recycle.
5MK Class Assembly Today in assembly, Class 5MK took us on a journey back in time to the 1500's, to meet Henry VIII and his six wives. A domineering dynasty, we learnt the fate of each wife as we took a stroll through the portrait gallery at Hampton Court.
Art & Photography Club This week in Art and Photography club, the girls worked with water colours. They used the water colour paints to complete their drawings of their beautiful horses. Some girls decided to add backgrounds, and some focused on the finer details in their horse's features. We are looking forward to finishing these next week!
Year 3 In Year 3 we have started reading Emil and the Detectives, about a boy's adventures in Berlin. After researching Berlin and creating a mind map of information we created a leaflet, persuading people to visit the vibrant busy city of Berlin! We looked at famous landmarks, places to eat and how to travel around the city.
Year 2—French This week in French, Year 2 took advantage of the beautiful weather and had a lesson "en plein air". The girls chose which food they like and dislike in French. They then used fruit and vegetable dictionaries to make up their own table in their books.
Year 2—George’s Marvellous Medicine Inspired by George's Marvellous Medicine and their recent revolting creation in the classroom, Year 2 took their newly learnt apothecary skills into the woods this week. The girls thought big and created their own unique medicinal remedies using a range of woodland ingredients including grass, mud, moss, sticks and stones. They used a variety of implements to blend their potions including sticks, their hands and a pair of pink wellington boots! The girls had lots of fun and got very messy!!

This Week We remembered this week St Patrick, whose feast day fell on Wednesday. Little is known of St Patrick’s life, except that he lived on the western coast of Britain, was abducted by pirates and sold into slavery, spent six years as a swineherd, during which God spoke to his heart, spent time training for the priesthood in France and then returned to Ireland where he was an extraordinary missionary. From the youngest age, he had a profound sense that God was calling him to a special mission. In the course of this mission, legend tells us, he used the shamrock as a potent symbol of the God we believe in, a God who is Father, Son and Spirit. This was central to his teaching and a reminder to us that whenever we make that sign on our bodies, we are recalling our Baptism, and remembering, at the beginning of our prayer, that we are always in the presence of God, and as we end our prayer, that we once again are sent out on our Mission as Patrick was.
Thank you We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who has contributed to the six minibus loads of items for our Ukraine appeal. May the God of peace bring a blessing to all those who will receive our offerings over the coming weeks. Amen.

We hope that you all have had a lovely week! Please make sure that coats are brought up to ride, even if you don’t end up wearing them! The weather is very unpredictable at the moment, and while we do have some showerproof coats for you to borrow, it is best to bring your own just in case!
Please also make sure that all riders turn up with time to spare before their lessons! This will give you time to get your horse ready and out to the arena. We will also ensure that instructors and yard staff help you get ready so that you can make the most of your riding lesson on the horse! Just a reminder: We are not running riding lessons or clubs on the last week of the term. Our termly lessons will end on Saturday 26th March.
Easter Pony Days We do have one or two spaces left for over the Easter Holidays. Check out the booking system if you’d like to attend! If you would like to be added to the waitlist in case of a cancellation, then please email the office or there is an update on the system where you will be emailed automatically if a space becomes available. Also, if you’d like to join our mailing list for future holiday dates, then contact the office by phone or email.
