Year 4

For International Women's Day in March, the girls in Year 4 wrote letters to women that have inspired them. Some of the girls have been lucky enough to have replies to their letters, including from people or organisations such as the Enid Blyton Society, JK Rowling, contacts about Gertrude Ederle and our very own Mrs Halliwell. It has been very exciting to share the letters and we look forward to seeing who else might reply

Year 5

Year 5 reflected on the events of Easter Sunday and Holy Week by creating beautiful Easter gardens in the school grounds. Can you spot the open tomb in some of them?

Year 6 Skin Care talks with Mrs Jardella

We were delighted to welcome Mrs Jardella, former parent and skin/beauty expert, into school on Thursday to give our Year 6 girls a talk on how to keep skin healthy and what a sensible skincare regime might look like. Her Top Tips were that a healthy lifestyle and diet have the biggest positive impact on our skin and that if the girls do choose to use products they should keep their skin care regime simple, not get carried away with a product trend and choose products that meet their specific needs. The talk was extremely educational and interesting and the girls were able to reflect on how what they learned about branding in their young enterprise project, LifeLab, is exactly what the beauty industry uses to persuade them to buy their products! Hopefully, our girls now have the knowledge and information to make sensible decisions about if/when they want to use products and what those might be.

In her age group (Year 3), Ania came 4th in the swimming aspect, which is amazing, and then came 34th in the running part. Overall, Ania placed 26th in the country for her age group!

Thea competed in the Year 4 age group and achieved 27th in the swimming aspect and 17th in the running part. Her overall place was 15th place out of 94 other girls! What an amazing experience for them both and we are very, very proud of them. Well done!

Lunch Time After School
Before School (7:50-8:20)

This Week

We begin by wishing you a very ‘Happy Easter’! We, together with billions across the world, celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Whether by eating and decorating Easter Eggs, that represent the empty tomb and the new birth of the resurrection, through the traditional images of bunnies and chicks, again symbols of new birth, or the beauty of creation as it burst forth at in this spring time, we all celebrate the reality of Jesus defeating death forever as He rose from the dead.

In Chapel, reflecting our Lenten series of reflections, we shall now meet three individuals who met the risen Christ on the day of the resurrection. This week, we met Mary of Magdala (John 20:11-18). Mary visited Jesus’ tomb early on Sunday morning to carry out the funeral rituals that had to be delayed due to Jesus dying on the eve of the festival. She found the tomb empty and wept.

Perceiving a person behind her, she assumed it was the gardener. Why would John include this detail? Surely we are to recognise, with a wry smile, that John is referring to Genesis 2,where Adam and Eve walked with God in the Garden of Eden. Through the resurrection, Jesus restores all that was damaged and broken in our world from Adam’s disobedience. Mary now walks in that restored garden.

She finally recognises Jesus when he calls her by name. We are called to recognise that the God who loves and cares for us knows us, also, by name and calls us to participate in the joy of the resurrection.

And finally, Mary, known as ‘the Apostle to the Apostles’ is sent to share the news of the resurrection with Jesus followers. We too are called to develop and use our gifts and talents as we discover the mission that we are called to so that we, like Mary, can share the good news of the resurrection with our world.

We hope that you all have had a good Easter Holidays, and are refreshed and ready to start the Summer Term! At STE, we have had some changes with our equine team over the holidays.

Mr T hadn’t been feeling well with the workload and so went back home to his owners. Tango moved to his new loan home with our yard manager Katie, who then dropped off her lovely mare Bunny with us.

Bunny is a 14.2hh black Dales mare who competes in showing. She is very friendly, but make sure that you give her some space while she settles in so that she’s not overwhelmed! She will be slowly introduced in to lessons over the next couple of weeks to see how she gets on.

We would also like to ask for everyone’s patience this term.

Some of our ponies have been feeling a bit under the weather, sore, or have undergone some veterinary treatment, and we are doing our best to look after them and get them fit and healthy again. Unfortunately, this means that we have to take them out of some lessons, so please to bear with us for the next few weeks while we are a bit short on what horses we can adding to lessons.

We also had our first Interhouse Show Jumping with the NSEA riders! Well done to all who attended!

We will be running a Interhouse Dressage on the last week of term on our STE horses and ponies. We will be acquiring your interest in this at a later date.

Horse Breeds:Arabian

The Arabian horse, or Arab as they are more commonly called, are from Arabia. They have striking features that can make them easily recognisable, such as their dished face. Arabs are very athletic, and usually have a slim figure and are used for polo and racing in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
