Year 5 Chef's Adopt a School Session One - "Taste!"
As part of our Year 5 "Chef's Adopt a School" programme, Chef Gary taught the girls abut taste and how the tongue has different areas for bitter, sweet. salty and sour. The girls then had a wonderful time tasting various foods. They were surprised by the pleasant bitterness of chicory, but the resounding favourite was the strawberry jam!

It was wonderful to welcome so many talented children to this year’s Easter music course. Over the span of five days, the girls refined their skills under the guidance of our Music department and instructors, all in preparation for a wonderfully uplifting concert on the last day.
Pupil Fundraising
Elizabeth would like to thank the St Teresa’s community for supporting her fundraising campaign for the Little Princess Trust. She smashed her £350 target, raising just under £500 and donated 42cm of hair - well over the required 30cm!
Well done Elizabeth and thank you all for your kindness.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to youngsters undergoing cancer treatment, or with conditions such as Alopecia.

Year 4 Partnership Day
On Thursday 25th April, Year 4 visited Cranmore, along with the girls from Manor House, for an afternoon of team building activities and rounders. It was a fun filled day, making new friends across the Partnership, and a delicious tea to finish.
Flower Procession in honour of Our Lady
Due to the number of exciting residential trips happening in May, this year we will be holding our May Procession on the eve of May (!) to enable all girls to participate. Our procession will therefore take place this Tuesday, 30th April at 8.40am.
Every girl in the Prep School will have the opportunity to lay flowers before the statue of Mary as part of the celebration.
Can we please encourage you to send your daughter in to school with a flower or a bunch of flowers on Tuesday morning so that they can take part in this beautiful ceremony.
As in previous years, following the procession, we will be donating all the flowers to the Princess Alice Hospice where we know they will bring a great deal of joy to the residents, their families and visitors.
Year 3 Art Club Blossom Trees
Inspired by the beautiful blossom trees that greeted us as we arrived back to school this week, the girls in Year 3 Art Club created these beautiful cherry blossom paintings.

U11 Surrey League Tennis
On Friday 19 April, the U11 Surrey League team played against Sutton High in their first tennis fixture of the season. The girls played really well and I was particularly impressed with their teamwork and communication on court. There were some excellent rallies and points won throughout the sets, and it is clear that the girls' hard work at training is paying off. As the four sets came to a score of 2-2, we competed in a tie break shoot out with a player from each pair being selected to compete. Rachel and Lyla were incredible but unfortunately lost in the tie break to a very strong Sutton High side. However, their calmness under pressure and determination was something to be admired. An unlucky loss but the girls should feel really proud of their performances - Well done!
U10 & U11 Tennis vs Manor House
The U10 and U11 girls played against Manor House on the 22nd April. All the girls played two matches each refining their understanding of tennis scoring and practising their ground strokes. Standout performances came from Molly C & Harriet L and Eva C & Isla M-S winning their first match 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. Mira M and Emily W also contested a very tight match, winning by 3 games to 2. Out of the 12 matches played St. Teresa’s won 5 to Manor House’s 4 showing how tightly contested the matches were.

This Week
We continued our journey through the season of Easter with one of the most famous journeys recording in the Gospels, that of the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24). Two disciples, perhaps a married couple, fled Jerusalem yet were met by a mysterious stranger. They, with no little irony, ask the traveller,‘Are you the only inhabitant of Jerusalem who does not know what has been happening over the last few days?’!!
Again, we drew three messages from this passage. Firstly, as with the disciples, it is at those moments when we are at our lowest point, when all hope is lost, that Jesus will gently make his presence felt. Jesus is always there, as the saying goes, with ‘the least, the lost and the last.’ When we need him most, He will be there!
We often imagine that our conversion will involve heaven wrenched open, heavenly voices and beatific visions. The truth is that it is more like a gently voice, calmly revealing the truth to us. It took at least three hours of Jesus explaining during the walk to Emmaus. For us, it may take even longer.
Finally, as their companion on the journey, Jesus reveals himself in the breaking of break (that moment that is so beautifully represented by the alter piece in the Chapel.
‘Companion’ literally refers to those who we share bread with. For some of us, it is a clear reference to the Eucharist. But for us all, we may reflect that it is in our relationships with others that the reality of God’s presence is often made real.
Perhaps we, like the disciples, can watch out for the gentle presence in our lives this week!
We hope that you all have had a good week.
The weather is due to get warmer next week, but do still keep an eye on the forecast in case of rain or chilly evenings so you know what layers to pack for riding.
